Whidbey World View - Cottage & Studio
Whidbey World View - Cottage & Studio
Description
This listing combines our two popular rentals - The Hill House and The Bird House. We call it Whidbey World View for the stunning views of the Olympic Mountains and Salish Sea, and the international shipping lanes. You can watch the world go by! Whether it’s orcas, eagles, song birds, or ships bound for points unknown, you will feel a connection to this big beautiful world. The Hill House is also for those who love world art. Come and enjoy this special place, its quiet days and starry nights. The space This listing is a combination of our two rentals - our guest cottage (The Hill House) and our studio (The Bird House). These are separate units, with separate entrances, and no shared walls or ceilings/floors. They are conveniently situated on the same property, and attached by a shared breezeway. These spaces are ideal for families who are working remotely, and want a little more space to spread out in. THE HILL HOUSE (Guest Cottage) This single story cottage was designed to invoke a sense of spaciousness and connection to the outdoors, with large windows, high ceilings, plenty of natural light, a generous front porch and french doors that open to the outside. The open floor plan connects the living and dining area with the fully equipped kitchen for those who love food and family as much as we do. A full sized refrigerator, electric stove/oven, microwave, french press coffee maker, toaster, pots, pans, and baking equipment are available for your use. *Heat is through a woodburning stove, electric wall heater in the main living area, and space heaters in the bedrooms. The bedrooms are cozy, designed for restful nights and reading in bed. One bedroom has a double bed, the other has a single. There is also a sofa bed (double) in the living area. There is a dvd player/tv for watching dvds. We do not have a television hook up for live tv. We stock a selection our favorite dvds, books and games for you to enjoy. THE BIRDHOUSE (STUDIO) The Bird House is a second floor studio with a huge picture window facing the Olympic mountains and Admiralty Inlet (our beautiful corner of the Salish Sea), stunning views and beautiful and bountiful light (as well as black out shades for those who want to sleep in). Like the Hill House, it was designed to maximize views and create a sense of spaciousness and connection to the beautiful outdoors. It looks down on an unkempt, fenced garden, which serves as a feeding area and playground for wildlife. *Heating is by an electric wall unit. The Bird House has a separate entrance, queen sized bed, bistro table, bath with tub and shower, mini fridge, microwave, french press coffee maker, tea pot, and the things you need to warm up snacks or enjoy a light, fresh or microwaved meal. The Bird House has plenty of privacy, and is across the breezeway, and upstairs from the Hill House, in a separate building with no shared walls or ceiling/floors, and connected by the breezeway. It is not suitable for toddlers, or for people who have difficulty climbing stairs. Guest access Whidbey World View, combines two units - a cottage (The Hill House) and a studio (The Bird House) - each with their own entrance, a short ways up the hill/driveway from our house. The views from the property are stunning and varied, and we encourage you to make full use of the property, have a picnic on the lawn, or visit our four chickens (who are friendly). The Hill House is at the top of the driveway. The Bird House is across the breezeway and upstairs from the Hill House. There are two parking spots available for Whidbey World View. Talk to us if you need additional parking, and we’ll see what we can do. Other things to note We are lucky to have fresh and delicious well water, so we do not stock, and discourage the use of, disposable water bottles. We compost food waste, and recycle glass, plastic and paper. We encourage guests to minimize their impact on the land by using the reusable grocery bags we supply and availing yourself of fresh produce from one of our nearby farms or local farmers markets. We’re always happy to connect you to these island gems.
