Like you, we travel and use Airbnb as guests, so we understand that full disclosure is important, and the last thing we’d ever want is for you to be surprised in a negative way. Fun surprises are great, disappointments are not. So here’s our way of making sure you know all the things we think we’d want to know if we were booking: We live upstairs. This is a 8500 square-foot house. It’s massive. Your 1200 square-foot walkout basement apartment is entirely yours. You have a separate entrance and your area is locked off from the rest of the house. Think of it like staying at a condominium or a duplex. While we are quiet people, however, you may hear us occasionally. We really can’t hear you. We leave fans in the closet if you want white noise. We won’t drop by or anything crazy like that. If you need something or if there’s a problem, we will do our best to respond quickly. We are cable cutters. So we don’t have Dish, Direct TV, etc. We do have a 60” TV with YouTube TV, Amazon Prime Video, Netflix, Peacock and Hulu. Any purchases will be billed to your account. We also don’t have TV’s in the bedrooms. We didn’t build this house, and the builder put all AC controls on the main level. No idea why. So…we run the heat/air at 70° for the entire stay. If you want it adjusted at all, let us know, we don’t mind. We leave fans and space heaters as well. So sorry, I know that I’d want control of the thermostat, it’s just the way the house was built. I think it’s just important you know. We use Ring doorbell and floodlight cameras on the exterior of the property. Those cameras record people coming and going from the property your safety and for ours. Of course, there are NO cameras or recording inside, uggh, hate that I’d even have to say that, but you know what world we live in. I’ll bend over backwards to provide you with a complimentary float trip if I am available. We ask that you provide your own life jackets. If I am not available, I do have a contact who rents canoes and may be able to help you out. Even if I can’t take you on a trip, I’ll still loan you my boats at no extra cost so you can canoe around on the river. Finally - we have/love two dogs. You shouldn’t see or hear them much at all when indoors. One of the dogs stays outside during the daytime when the weather is nice. He’s super sweet, but loves to play fetch. And I mean LOVES to play fetch. Just tell him “all done” and he will wander off to pout and ponder his life. If it’s hot, be really careful, he will retrieve until he has heat stroke. You’ll have make him stop. The dogs have no access to your apartment area. However, if our small dog, Daisy, sees a squirrel - remember that she’s only barking to save all of our lives from attack squirrels. She knows the squirrel’s true intentions and has no trust in any squirrel. So, she temporarily loses her mind over squirrels and/or the jet stream from a plane. Other than that, you shouldn’t hear the dogs much at all. We also have outdoor (and only outdoor) cats, Hunter and Trapper. They are working cats, keeping the mice and snakes in the surrounding woods to a minimum. They are not allowed inside (Hunter will try) no matter how cute or how much nice they are. If it’s cold, they sleep in the shop. I went overboard here on all the details I thought you’d want to know. We’d love to host you!
