Central Oxford - your own entrance!
Description
A lovely clean space with a newly installed superking (200x180) bed, deluxe new wool-filled topper and cotton linen. Built in wardrobe and shelves for clothing and a private shower room en suite. Crisp clean linen, towels and shower materials provided - all less than ten minutes walk from everywhere special in Oxford. Studious guests are welcome to use Hoonie’s large desk which is in the workroom adjacent to the bedroom. The space The guest accommodation consists of a double bedroom, in our semi basement, with an en suite shower room. Our house is small (a price we were happy to pay for the central location) so don't expect a huge and spacious room! The bedroom measures 3m x 3.3m, and the bathroom is 1.6m x 1.6m. The room is reached by going downstairs through the garden: it has its own entrance (check out the photos). The house is Edwardian outside but super modern inside - minimalist emphasis on style over content. Our street is quiet despite the central location, so guests can expect a peaceful night's sleep. We have also recently upgraded the sleeping arrangements: a new super-king sized bed with a 5cm organic wool topper on a new mattress. There is an en suite shower/bathroom with towels provided. Tea and coffee making facilities are provided in the room. There is a hairdryer provided with a mirror beside it. There is an electric heater in case you feel chilly in English summers (!) and an iron and ironing board available if wanted. We have also installed a small fridge so you can keep drinks cool and fresh. We are unable to accommodate children here, however little! The size of the room and our guests' preference for spending most of their time out and about in the city means that our room is designed for adults. Three doors down from the house is one of Oxford's best Lebanese restaurants, and up the road is Oxford's trendy Jericho area full of bars and restaurants. There is an excellent art house cinema 7 minutes walk away - which shows lots of foreign films - see photos. The bus station (which has 2 frequent services to London) is 10 minutes walk away and the train station is 15 minutes walk away. Guest access Guests have their own entrance to their room so they can come and go as they please. Few of our guests arrive by car as the transport links to Oxford are easy to use, and our house is so close to the city centre - but for those who do want to park, we can provide visitor permits for a modest charge. We are sorry that our room is not wheel-chair accessible as it is in our semi-basement reached down a flight of outside steps. However the steps are wide and safe, with a handrail as shown in the picture. Other things to note We have a large amount of information in the room to let you know what is on and what you can visit in Oxford and surrounding villages. Access to London by train takes 1 hour 10 minutes and a bus is 2 hours - but much cheaper. We now have a little (but growing) Whippet/Italian Greyhound puppy called Lyra, she is curious and friendly (but doesn’t have access to your room). If you like dogs you are bound to love her (and she you), but if you are averse or allergic, please take her into consideration when booking. In addition, a note for those with asthma, breathing difficulties or allergies:- the guest room is in the semi-basement of a 110-year-old house. Although there are two windows that can be opened to let in fresh air, Guests who are accustomed to constant air conditioning may find the atmospheric environment difficult to manage with their specific medical conditions.
