Description

There are views of Taxco, and there are views of Taxco. This room has the second ones. Casa Sierra Alta is a boutique hotel in the historic center, with Balboa, our café, cinema and cultural space, and a terrace from which the city can be seen as it should be seen. (By reservation) The space The house Casa Sierra Alta is a neo-colonial mansion built in the mid-20th century on the main street of Taxco, Benito Juárez 13. Its architecture embraces the geography of the city: slopes, courtyards, stone walls, and light that enters differently at each hour of the day. A minute's walk away: the Parroquia de Santa Prisca, Plaza Borda, the Casa Humboldt Museum, and the Casa Borda Cultural Center. Just a few meters away: the best restaurants and cafes in the city. Balboa | Café & Cinema Inside the house is Balboa, our specialty coffee shop, boutique movie theater and cultural space. We screen Mexican and international films with care, with thematic series, special nights, and movie and cocktail pairings. We also do theater, culinary experiences with local producers, and events with artists from the region. We are the official venue for the Taxco International Film Festival, which every April fills the city with filmmakers and film buffs from around the world. Balboa is open every day from 9 am to 9 pm, with free access for the public. As a guest, it's your living room. Taxco Real In the 1930s, Taxco was the place where American and Mexican artists and intellectuals, such as Diego Rivera, Frida Kahlo, William Spratling, and Aldous Huxley, worked together to create a new image of Mexico. It was here that Macario, the first Mexican film nominated for an Oscar, was filmed. That city still exists. You just have to know where to look.
