Description
Nestled in the rural lanes of East Sussex, under the boughs of an ancient oak tree, sits the Old Coach House, recently refurbished to a high standard. The cottage, which has its own secluded garden, is a short stroll to the shops and pubs of Herstmonceux and nearby walks in the High Weald AONB. Nearby towns include Hastings, Lewes and Eastbourne, with cultural highlights such as Charleston, Glyndebourne, Firle House and some spectacular gardens. Perfect for a family or group of friends. The space The ground floor houses a mix of stylish mid-century furniture and older antique pieces that sit seamlessly in the living and dining areas. And while the colour palette is mainly restrained and sophisticated, the vibrant green kitchen adds a welcome pop of colour. The ground floor is decorated with an eclectic mix of antique and contemporary pieces. The warm colour palette gives it a restful atmosphere, while art and antiques give the living room and dining room a sophisticated feel. From the large double doors, you can admire the ancient oak tree and garden and keep an eye on the sheep grazing on the fields. The large garden is private and surrounded by lovely countryside. There is a barbecue ready and a fire pit brazier to keep you warm during the starry nights. Hertsmounceux has one of the clearest and most magnificent Skys in the UK. The upstairs rooms have been individually decorated with super comfy beds and crisp white linen. There is a romantic double bedroom with a king-size bed and a lovely view of the tree canopies. The colourful and romantic second room has a double bed a day bed. If you can bear to leave the cottage, you can go hiking a section of the High Weald landscape trail, which runs approximately 90 miles from east to west. Alternatively, history buffs will appreciate visiting nearby Herstmonceux Castle, the oldest noteworthy brick building in the country. Finally, Hastings's creative vibe and quirky charm are approximately half an hour's drive away, as is Lewes and its fantastic shops. The cottage is fantastically situated if you are visiting Charleston House or Glyndebourne Opera
