The house is located about 8 miles (or about 12 minutes) west of Shinnecock Hills Golf Club and the US Open. As a side note in order to access the course without encountering long traffic jams one should be west of the club. Traveling from points east is on a single lane road that is frequently quite congested. More specifically, the property is located on 2.5 acres in Red Creek, Hampton Bays, Southampton, NY. The property and immediate area is heavily wooded, including for example 1000 acre Hubbard and Sears-Bellows County Park. The house is located about 1200 feet from Peconic Bay and its sandy beaches and boating opportunities. Hampton Bays' five mile long pristine (undeveloped) oceanfront and beaches are only a 10 minute drive away. Southampton Village is about a 15 minute drive and Westhampton Village also about 15 minutes. The North Fork wine country is also about a 15 minute drive away. The house while enormous (about 6,500 square feet) has a comfortable home like feel. It is characterized by large open spaces with sweeping outdoor views and is perfect for entertaining. For example, the great room is 2,000 square feet with 20 foot ceilings, but the adjoining dining room (overlooking the fish pond) is intimate. The family room with its 20 foot tall stone fireplace and 600 square feet is a comfortable, family friendly space. Besides the great room and family room, the other spaces include 5 bedrooms, kitchen, breakfast room, dining room, balcony bar, paneled office, sauna and finished basement with laundry. The great room easily accommodates large numbers. While the formal dining room is for intimate gatherings, the breakfast room easily accommodates 10 for a meal. The spa or hot tub seats eight. The house includes a true Finnish sauna. An outdoor fire pit allows for roaring nighttime fires (and roasting marshmallows).
