The Destination ~ Esqape Dunara is an 18th century heritage homestay near Jodhpur, in village Dhundhara, about 45 mins driving from the city. \ Dhundhara or Dunara is a small village nestled in the rustic & dry landscape of Rajasthan, with desert wildlife, farms and hinterland/scrub like forests. With its old world charm and slow pace of life, it is the perfect weekend getaway near Jodhpur. When you book Esqape Dunara, you will have an entire haveli to yourself and you can experience life in an authentic Rajasthani village. You can enjoy a private escape in the 1 acre estate or connect with the local community by way of our village walks or head for a wildlife safari and explore the desert. From the royal hosts, to staff, to the villagers, expect to meet the kindest and most hospitable people in Dunara, true to the storied culture and legendary hospitality of Rajasthan. 2. The Haveli ~ A 1 acre private estate, the fortress is located in the heart of an authentic Rajasthani village and provides a rare countryside experience. The property has 3 buildings: a. The Bedrooms & gardens: There are 4 spacious guest bedrooms with 1 large double bed, seating area, in-room amenities, attached bathrooms, dresser & Smart TV. Bedrooms are connected by a large common verandah overlooking a sprawling garden. b. The Pool & Deck: Next to the gardens, is the complex with the swimming pool, a large deck and the kitchen. This building also has a secret underground dungeon, which makes for the perfect spot for a private dining experience. Some parts of this building are under completion. c. The Entrance Fortress: This part houses the owner’s private residence, the beautiful entrance fortress and gates, some common space and staff rooms. It also has an 18th century granary and jail house. Note: If you want the property privately then book all 4 rooms, else if you are a couple or a small family and want to enjoy the experience of Dunara, you can book 1-2 rooms. In such a case the remaining rooms will be available to other guests. 3. The Cuisine ~ Our homestyle kitchen serves delicious and wholesome North Indian and traditional Rajasthani cuisine with limited Chinese and Italian options. Request the chef to prepare your personal favorites or let them surprise you with some local delicacies, the kitchen is at your service. Soak in the pool to beat the heat or sit next to a warm bonfire with your friends & family while savoring delicious home cooked style delicacies. 4. The Hosts ~ The host Thakur Ajai Singh’s family, has a family legacy dating back to 1835 when Thakur Bhabhoot Singh, the jagirdar of Pokaran was also granted the fief of Dhundhara by the Maharaja of Jodhpur. After his ascension, he restored the grand entrance gate to where it stands today. Six generations down the line, the Rajput family of Dunara has opened its doors for you. The property has an amazing history, older than 1669 when the temples and residential buildings that stood here were ransacked by Aurangzeb during his war with Maharaja of Jodhpur. You can see some of these centuries old remains beautifully curated at the haveli. If you spend some time with the hosts, they will graciously share some of these stories, which makes for an evening of great conversation, food and drinks. 5. Swimming Pool ~ Property comes with a pool with a large deck and lounge area. Pool is 4ft deep with no shallow or kids end. Guests are required to shower before entering the pool. Kids cannot be left unsupervised at the pool and have to accompanied by adults at all time. It is a deep pool with no shallow ends or kid side. 6. Meals and Kitchen ~ All meals are included. Extra meals, tea, coffee, barbeque can be ordered al a carte. Self-cooking is NOT allowed. Our kitchen will service any requirements. 7. The Drive ~ The drive to the village from Jodhpur is a beautiful & scenic country side experience. Once you make the booking we will share all location and route details. 8. No. of Guests we can host ~ We can accommodate 8-10 adults &/or kids. 8 guests on 4 large double beds in 4 bedrooms. Additional 2 guests can be accommodated on the extra beds in any room. 9. Internet ~ We have a dedicated WIFI connection which is good for WFM and video calls. Voda, Idea, Airtel, BSNL networks work very well. 10. Hot water & Save Water ~ Please do not waste water, it is a very limited resource in the desert. We have geysers in all bathrooms. 11. Pets ~ Dogs and other pets are welcome. Pets are NOT allowed in the beds or on the furniture. Guests are responsible for cleaning after their pets and for any damage caused by them. Please bring their food, bedding and feeding bowls. Food for dogs is chargeable at cost @Rs 150/veg meal. Rs 300/non veg meal. A friendly and welcoming Labrador lives at the property and other guests might have their pets too. 12. Our Staff ~ Caretaker is available from 8:00 AM till 10:00 PM. Any tips can be given to him directly. 13. Drivers ~ We have space for drivers at the estate. Charges @Rs 1000/night. Meals extra and can be had at the local dhabas in the village. 14. Noise and Disturbance ~ Playing loud music is not allowed. Neither is any drunken disorderly behavior.
