The space Veteran Buchanan visitors will know our property as the former Bean Fishing Camp. Our 8 vintage fishing cabins were built in the ‘50s and ‘60s by C.D. Bean, a legendary Llano County fishing guide and outdoorsman. Some of our long-term guests keep the units for their families to access, and some make it a getaway when time allows. We’re here for you to create the experience that you vision. Bring your food and charcoal for grilling and enjoy our beautiful breezy evenings while talking to other traveling neighbors and sitting by the fire pit. When there’s water close to the launch, you have full access to drop your boat, kayak, and jet ski. Park your boat in a covered slip, and fish off the dock to catch some of the many varieties our beautiful getaway offers. Guest access Lake Buchanan is the best of the seven Highland Lakes for Fishing. The Highland Lakes are located in the Texas Hill Country of central Texas, well-known for its beautiful hills, trees, and scenery. The Highland Lakes chain of lakes along the Colorado River starts 85 miles northwest of Austin and ends in Austin. Lake Buchanan is the second largest of the seven lakes. Because of Lake Buchanan's size, the lake is less crowded on a holiday weekend than urban lakes are on an average Tuesday. Don’t forget to visit waterfalls by boat or take the Vanishing River cruise. Other things to note Bring your camera. You will have opportunities to take photos of wildlife and beautiful scenery. Upstream on the Colorado River, you will find nesting areas for Bald Eagles. Boaters can see a series of waterfalls, one so spectacular that it was used in Hamm's beer advertising. Cottonwood Cove is the last resort on the way to the very popular Fall Creek Vineyards.
