Latty Cove, West Tremont. Located on Mt Desert Island, the home of beautiful Acadia National Park. Hillside can sleep up to 7, but there are 2 additional cabins available that can sleep up to 5 more. Please reach out to the owner so that you can understand the housing options! Beautiful views and water access! Hillside and the other cabins are located in a family compound that was once owned by the famous explorer, Admiral Richard Byrd. Every building has a view and access to the ocean. Hillside (sleeps 7) has a spacious living area and large deck that allow a family to live in comfort. With all the extras and a private beach, Hillside will match any vacationers wish list.....kids and adults love Latty Cove and Mount Desert Island! You can rent just Hillside, or add 1-2 additional cabins to accommodate more people. The price quoted is for Hillside, not the other buildings. Hillside MUST be rented in order to rent Roadside ($750/week) and/or Halfway ($750/week). They can be quoted separately. Maine Lodging Tax (9%) is due separately and not included here. A security deposit is also due. One well behaved dog is permitted! We have a dock and mooring, for a $100 fee. We have beautiful trails and roads for walking or running, and our gravel beach is less than 100 yards from the Hillside deck. Guest often rent kayaks, boats, paddle boards and bikes. We currently have 2 kayaks that our renters may use. Acadia National Park's nearest hike is 15 minutes. Southwest Harbor is 15 minutes and Bar Harbor is 30 minutes. The restaurants in Southwest Harbor are the best on the island. There is a fabulous lobster pound very close! Description of Hillside: Hillside's granite stone walkway leads to the two tiered deck and then through the sliding glass doors into the Great Room. The Great Room contains a large fireplace with wood stove insert and is constructed with stones from the original foundation. There is a spacious seating area, a long dining table, stools at the kitchen/bar counter and a modern kitchen. There is a separate large living room with tables for games or puzzles and a ping pong table. Downstairs is a queen bedroom (new bed & bath linens, not pictured) a second bedroom with a set of twin beds and a full bath (twin sinks, shower/tub). Upstairs is a VERY spacious master bedroom (new bed & bath linens, not pictured) with a king size bed, a bedroom with a twin bed and a bath with 4 foot shower and twin sinks. The waterfront is spectacular - gravel beach, granite rocks, dock, tennis court, and swimming pool (until September 15) are available to tenants and shared with the owners if they are in residence. There are hiking/walking trails. This is a large property with numerous houses and cabins. Sometime there is family staying in the main house very close to the water. You cannot see the house from Hillside, and they are very separate. We understand that most guests like their privacy! There is often at least one friendly dog roaming the property. Not considered a neighborhood type of spot! There is a lot of open space and privacy. Most "neighbors" are here for the summer. Very friendly and safe! You'll need a car here. The MDI Explorer bus (Acadia national Park's bus) stops nearby. It is a great option. We are located in Tremont, or also known as "The Quietside" of Mount Desert Island. You will not find a lot of touristy traffic here. There is a gas grill.
