Logis de Lichères

The Logis de Lichères is located in one of the most picturesque villages of the Romanesque Charente. Lichères is a hamlet of about ten houses, all scattered and placed in the middle of the meadows but isolated from the rest of the world by the Charente, which forms a loop there. The house, at the bottom of a large square courtyard, is a succession of rooms, large and small, enfilades, corridors with old paving and parquet floors, fireplaces, woodwork... The space In 1988, I bought the Logis de Lichères, which was completely in ruins, without financial means and having just retrained as a carpenter after starting my career at the Louvre, I embarked on a complete reconstruction. Once the building is stabilized, I have to invent the interior: parquet floors, woodwork, fireplaces, furniture... This work becomes the starting point of a creative research that will span nearly forty years. From this adventure was born the brand "Meubles et Boiseries", then "La Manufacture Nouvelle" offering oak furniture inspired by models designed at Logis: classic proportions, finesse, balance, and ability to integrate into both traditional and contemporary interiors. The Logis thus becomes a true creative laboratory. Other things to note As you travel through the Charente, each small village you pass through holds a surprise: almost always, a Romanesque church stands at the corner of an alley, these buildings, often modest and harmoniously integrated into the landscape, bear witness to a heritage of exceptional richness. Between two villages, the road winds through the middle of quiet rivers. Here, Romanesque art and nature meet.
