Secluded cabin on animal sanctuary
Description
The cabin is situated at our home and small self funded vegan/vegetarian sanctuary on a hill, nestled in its own small wild nature garden and developing food forest of fruit, nuts and wild edibles. We have developed our whole site into a track system or otherwise known as Paradise paddock. Meet some of our rescue animals. Sit by the campfire and enjoy the views of the surrounding countryside. It's a great place to enjoy the peace and quiet of the Irish Midlands and surrounding counties. The space The cabin is very private in its own nature garden at the end of our land and is accessed through a small paddock on foot. The pathways are gravel and grass so please consider your footwear. The cabin is bespoke and was hand built by my husband, David, using as much reclaimed material as possible as is the separate bathroom with shower and compost toilet right next door. Please note the cabin and bathroom have quite low roofs as they were built to blend into the landscape and not be too visible above the hedge line. The shower is 1.7m so apologies if you are on the taller side! Our entire site encompasses a 'track system' otherwise know as 'Paradise Paddock'. This is a system for enabling us to keep our animals on limited space while still allowing plenty of movement, interest and enrichment for them. Within the track is our home and garden, kitchen garden and polytunnel, goat enclosure and playground, stables, guinea pig enclosures and wildlife areas. We are continually developing and adding to the system to make maximum and multipurpose use of every inch of space and demonstrate what can be achieved with a bit of ingenuity to create a beautiful environment for all who visit and live here. Guest access The cabin is in its own private garden at the far end of our property. This is a sanctuary and our home. The animals on our sanctuary are rescues and could be nervous, therefore free access is not possible, but by prior arrangement, you're welcome to take a tour of our garden and meet some of the animals. Other things to note We are vegan/vegetarian friendly and kindly ask that meat products are not cooked on our property. . The cabin is stocked with a large selection of herbs and spices along with dry goods such as pasta and rice etc. Guests are welcome to purchase seasonal produce from our organic kitchen garden, payment via our honesty box. All proceeds will go towards animal care and improving and enriching their environment. We have Wi-Fi but it can sometimes be a little unreliable. Firewood is provided if you would like a campfire. The cabin has a kingsize bed, comfey chairs to sit and read or play games. A travel cot is also available to use. There is a mini fridge and small electric oven with 2 hob rings, microwave and everything you need to cook a meal. We are just 45 minutes drive from Dublin City and the airport. For exploring the city you can leave the car at Enfield and take the bus or train but base yourself in the peace and quiet of the countryside. Close to the Royal Canal Greenway cycle route. Great base to discover the Boyne Valley and surrounding counties.
