Barfleur is ranked among the Most Beautiful Villages in France and commonly called "The Pearl of the Val de Saire". It is a small traditional grounding port, where fishing and pleasure boats mingle. The first port of the Anglo-Norman kingdom in the Middle Ages, this picturesque village with character is steeped in history. While the Val-de-Saire is inseparable from Cotentin (Manche), Barfleur stands out, being the only city in the department ranked among the 172 most beautiful villages in France. He created a mold of his own duck and inserted it all over the property. Can you spot all the casts? After a prolific reflection by Jennifer Decamp, the current owner, the name of the estate was born... La Duckerie! And now... your mission... Avoiding the ducks, when you all shout together: It's the dance of the ducks Who, coming out of the pond Shake their lower backs And make a quack-quack Do it like the little ducks And so that everyone can have fun Shake your butt By doing quack-quack... On this joyful song that, of course, doesn't break a duck's legs! But it will forever remain a legendary song. It's convenient... The Grande Duckerie is adjoining the Petite Duckerie. So you can have an extra room, if necessary. Independent parking for 8 cars is allocated to you. 2 min by car, or 20 min walk, with a nice walk along the paths, you reach Valognes and will find everything you need: Supermarkets, cinema, municipal swimming pool, restaurants, delis, bakeries, banks... Did you know? Valognes is called the Little Normandy Versailles! In the 17th and 18th centuries, this city was full of a plethora of aristocrats and no less than a hundred private mansions were built within the prosperous city. Before joining the Court of Versailles, the subjects were educated for a few months, in contact with the "aristocratic fauna" of Valognes. They learned the good manners and codes of the Royal Court. Today, there are about 35 beautiful mansions. Push their doors to discover the beautiful paved courtyards and their pleasure gardens. Many were destroyed by the Second World War.
