Description

This is a modern cottage in the centre of the elephant corridor between Mt Kenya and Lewa Downs Conservancy. Views spectacular. Comfortable fully furnished off grid living. Vegetable garden to eat from and walks for Africa. I am offering the house on a per person per night rate. The guests will have full use of the house, sitting, kitchen, dining and verandah areas with fire place and comfortable chairs and tables for outside comfort. To get to this location you need a car with 4 x 4. The space This is totally private from any tourist destinations and you will be able to see up to 11 different species of wildlife and many different birds if you are lucky from the verandah. Walking within the elephant exclusion zone is permitted with a guide. This is a space for people who love nature, quietness and health. Writers, painters, hikers and wildlife enthusiasts would love it here as it has access to all the Northern Kenya game reserves and conservancies. Mount Kenya National Park is at the door step so good place to start and finish a trip up the mountain. Sun heated showers and fires in the evenings as it is cold and dry being over 2000 mtrs above sea level. This is not to be booked by people who want to have parties with alcohol and loud music. People who would like this location would be those trying to get away from noise and technology of everyday life. Quiet celebrations, family get togethers and active nature lovers are what this location is all about. Guest access Guests can walk around the farm, swim in the reservoir and explore at their own risk. They need to be aware that it is a private farm and home and to behave in a manner associated with the atmosphere of the farm. There is bee keeping, fish farming, hay baling and tree planting to see. There are chickens, ducks, geese and sheep. Wildlife is within the corridor and so walking should be escorted by myself or a farm employee for personal safety. During your stay The cottage is separate from the main house. The main house is where I live. If I happen to be there I am available to advise people on what they might like to do. I am also a wildlife guide and will be willing when possible to go with guests if they require. I can pick people up from Nanyuki or Lewa Downs airstrip if I am around and it is organised. I will do what ever I can to make your stay memorable if I am there. I travel for work a lot so this cannot be for all guests. Other things to note This is a plastic free zone. All plastic brought to the farm must be taken away. Burnables and compost can stay. Fresh organic vegetables, eggs and honey are available at a cost if guests need. Fires will be laid daily and hot water for showers will be available morning and evening. There is a house cleaner who will help keep your mess in order and will help where necessary. If you want a cook this has to be organised ahead and paid extra for as they will come from outside. Breakages need to be paid for before you leave. The rate is per person per night so when you book you need to book for the number of guests coming, to get preapproval. All children 5 years and older are charged full rates. Any children under 5 are free. The pool is private but I do allow guests to use it if they can swim, don’t drink around the pool or play music
