Wake up to the sound of birdsong in your sumptuous bed, feeling perfectly relaxed. In the evening, watch the stars appear shining brightly with the lack of light pollution, staying warm and cosy by the fire pit. Nestled on the fringe of an orchard on the edge of a working Cider Farm, our beautiful Shepherd Hut and Annex offer a romantic escape for two in The Wye Valley with everything you need for a relaxing break away from it all. The space Kate and Gary would like to welcome you to our own little corner of Herefordshire. We live close by should you need anything at all. Located in the Wye Valley in Herefordshire, on the edge of the Forest of Dean there are many places to visit only a short drive away. You may be in the countryside, but just a five minute walk to the village of Peterstow with a well stocked village Shop / Post Office, and the lovely Yew Tree Inn village Pub, which is also home to the Ross Cider Company. If you prefer to stay in, we have an excellent firepit and grill in your own little garden outside the hut. If delicious cream teas take your fancy, you can book one at Broome Farm which is just a five minute stroll from the hut or can even even be delivered to you! Takeaway deliveries are also available from various restaurants in Ross-on-Wye. Kitchen and bathroom facilities are located in the Annexe, just a short step away from your Shepherd's hut bedroom. Your own fitted kitchenette, with a large fridge freezer, air fryer, microwave, toaster, coffee machine plus a beautifully fitted shower room with a walk in shower. Towels provided. We have excellent free wi-fi and a Bose CD / Radio with cds provided of various genres plus books and games available. The hut itself contains a lovely double bed with all bed linen provided, plus two dressing gowns and a shelf of books for you to discover at your leisure. Try exploring the stars at night with our telescope. The galaxy can be amazing with the lack of light pollution in the dark skies of Herefordshire. You can stroll the orchards, take a picnic, or if you love to walk, there are many footpaths right on our doorstep. For the more adventurous, the Forest of Dean with its' World famous Mountain Biking tracks is only a short drive away. You could even try canoeing down the river Wye! Parking is available right next to the hut with an untethered charging point for electric vehicles and free charging during your stay. Guest access The Shepherd Hut & Annexe are all yours! Other things to note The Annexe is a separate private area with kitchen and bathroom facilities for your own personal use only. Remember to bring supplies as accommodation is on a self catering basis, although tea/coffee, milk, sugar and a few basic supplies are usually supplied . . The Solar panels on the roof of the building provide all your energy needs including hot water and heating. The EV Charger is automatically set to charge for six hours between 11:30am and 5:30am on our cheaper electricity tariff.
