Townhouse in Greater London
Description
Hear Big Ben chime from your room! This private bedroom/shared bathroom is in a charming terraced house in Kennington just south of the River Thames, only a 15 minute walk to Houses of Parliament, the London Eye, and more! Also minutes away from buses, tube, trains that will take you across London and the UK. Be close to all the sights but come home to a quiet tree-lined square with our private garden. SOLO FEMALE TRAVELLERS ONLY looking for a safe, peaceful stay in a shared home. No smokers. The space This home was built in the early 1900s as part of the Duchy of Cornwall estate. So it’s a blend of old English charm and Neo-Georgian design, with modern amenities and decor inside. Guest access You have your own private bedroom overlooking the garden and share a bathroom with one person (me!). The rest of the space - aside from my bedroom - will be accessible to you. This includes the living and dining area, fully equipped kitchen, and our private garden (with a hammock and outdoor dining area when weather permits!). I will clearly outline in your welcome tour which things are available for your use (e.g., teas, coffee, condiments, hand and laundry soaps, towels, toiletries). I would kindly request that guests only use things specified as shared, not my personal belongings (e.g., my groceries, skin and body products, body loofah). Please note, the bedroom and bathroom are up one set of stairs. I’m happy to help carry luggage upstairs, but it may not be an easy stay for someone who may have difficulty climbing stairs. During your stay I work from home most days, so will often be available to provide any insight on great places to visit in London - and would be available to share a dinner out or glass of wine in the garden if schedules permit. No pressure on either, happy to let you come and go as you wish as well! I would appreciate you letting me know if there’s anything you need to make your stay more comfortable - and please, while you’re here so I can take action! Other things to note Though I prefer to personally welcome you, self check-in is available. Please let me know when you plan to arrive and I will share check-in details! There is a binder with all details of the house by room. Please review to ensure easy use of appliances and how things generally work! Please note, please do not set hot pans on the laminate countertops, as it creates immediate damage. Also, stovetop gas has no scent in the UK, so double check you’ve turned off burners after use. Metals and aluminium cannot be put in the microwave - please ensure there is no metal before powering on. (Sorry, some lessons learned the hard way and I want to make sure to share clearly.) I would politely request only non-smoking guests. My home is a safe space for folks from marginalised groups. I welcome guests of all races, nationalities, faiths, and sexual orientations. However, due to more than one negative experience with men, I’ve made the difficult decision to limit my listing to women (including trans-women) for my safety and comfort. I will donate at least 1% of my Airbnb income each month to Health Poverty Action, a non-profit organisation that acts in solidarity with health workers, activists, and communities worldwide to improve health and challenge the causes of inequality. Thanks so much for considering staying at my Airbnb!
