Tranquil Retreat: Private Escape & Timeless Charm

Enjoy privacy on our remote 60 acre mountain retreat at the base of Equinox Mountain. Get a group of friends and family and relax in the Adirondack chairs by our large outdoor fire pit & wood grill, lounge on the large porch, go fishing , canoeing, tubing in the renowned Battenkill River (12 min. drive) or play lawn games. Hike from the property on the Beartown Gap Trail to top of Equinox Mountain to the famous Skyline Drive & Visitors center. This adventure will be nature at it finest! The space Our property is in Manchester Vermont approximately a 30 minute drive from the center of Manchester Village. Its on the opposite side of Equinox Mountain and Manchester Center. Our location is in a small area still known as Beartown which was a 1700’s community long gone. Our 3 generation house is at the base of Equinox Mountain, the highest in Southern Vermont on 60 acres in the middle of a 25 acre meadow. The 360 degree views are truly spectacular. Built in 1962 we remodeled the kitchen and bathroom this year but kept the rustic feel of the living area and bedrooms. The small downstairs bedroom has one double bed. In the two upstairs bedrooms there is one with 5 single beds and the other a single and a double bed. Sorry but there is NO INTERNET OR CELL SERVICE however its a great time to relax and build relationships planted in our serene nature retreat. We do have 70 DVD movies and a land line for your use (calling card needed for long distance calls and we have included a calling card for your convenience). Please don’t hesitate to call or email us to get an idea if this is a good fit for your perfect getaway. Guest access You have access to the entire house and acreage to ensure your privacy. Accessing the property will require a high clearance vehicle such as a truck, SUV or high clearance cars like a forester, volvo or subaru for the few higher rough areas for the 1/4 mile drive up the the hill. We have never had a problem with cars just go slowly over the few water bars. This is truly a unique one of kind property which we have decided to share after 60 years of family ownership. We believe this will provide a relaxing and private Vermont experience that is so unique and has so much to offer. A great place for families to bond and enjoy games in the outdoors. Kids will love it! And we have an adult swing for a bit of nostalgia. Again feel free to call and discuss the property. Other things to note Important rules to follow 1. No pets 2. No smoking in house or on porches 3.. No ATVs, motorcycles, 4 wheelers 4. No parties or fireworks And remember THERE IS NO INTERNET OR CELL SERVICE Thank you! We really appreciate your understanding Note- we provide sheets, bedspreads, blankets and pillows, bath towels, washcloths, paper towels, paper plates, and toilet paper. Our kitchen is well stocked to cook meals. A gas grill on porch and a outdoor wood fire pit in the meadow. Need a change from nature? Take a ride and experience Vermont’s covered bridges and the scenery Vermont is known for. Take a 30 minute drive around the mountain and visit quiescent Manchester Village voted #1 getaway by “Travel and Leisure”. Explore the great restaurants, museums, and quaint shops including the Orvis Flagship store, Southern Vermont Art Center, and Hildene Lincoln Estate to name a few. Take a ride up the famous Equinox Mountain Skyline Drive and experience 4 state views. Manchester truly has it all.
