Description
Go back in time in this period cottage, tucked away in one of the oldest villages on the Atherton Tablelands. Watch sunsets from the front verandah, bounce on vintage beds, and enjoy that hard to define feeling of being in the midst of mining history. Visit the award-winning Mining Museum and Historical Village ... and Spy Museum! Check out local arts and crafts at the Shire Hall. The village has held its breath for a long time and now the beautifully restored steam train is running ... The space Two double and three single beds (most silky oak); a cosy lounge with a faux 'log fire'; TV, books and DVDs; spacious kitchen/dining area with a wood burning stove; separate toilet, bathroom (enjoy a soak in the claw foot bath) and laundry; and outside seating areas on the front verandah, by the entrance door and on the back patio. Guest access A bedroom with two vintage single silky oak beds, is now available for children. Children are welcome to explore the old fashioned toys and board games in the dresser. An adjoining bedroom (which nan might sleep in) has a king single divan. Privacy is provided with the vintage double doors curtained between the rooms. That said, a number of large adults have also used this space - but do let us know the composition of your party so we can use the appropriate bedlinen! Other things to note There is a fire pit by the back patio. Turn your hand to some of the old fashioned crafts available near the vintage sewing machine; get the picnic basket filled at the local cafe and take off around the waterfall route; or add a few pieces to a jigsaw puzzle and leave it under the table cloth on the dining table ...
