Accommodating up to 4 guests in central West Hobart, it has over 100 years of history which we have continuously worked at to restore and rediscover. Nestled in a quiet street close to the CBD, you will find yourself on the doorstep of the Knocklofty Reserve where you can start (or end) your day with a walk through nature and perhaps even encounter some of the local wildlife. A unique stay in a beautiful corner of the world. The space Our humble 1920 cottage is described by all who stay as “warm and cosy”. The Huon Pine doors and Tas oak floors give it an earthy and uniquely Tasmanian feel. Every table, every chair has history, character and its own unique story to tell. The kitchen and lounge are at the heart of our home: A gas cooktop and converted workbench invite the culinary craftsman-within to experiment and entertain while others enjoy a freshly-brewed coffee or wine on our moody couch a few feet away. The dining room fills with light even on rainy days and can cater for a feast or a lazy breakfast watching the morning sky pass you by through the pressed tin skylight above. The two bedrooms range from modest to spacious: queen-size beds with views of the plum blossoms and maples just outside. After rainy days, our quiet street will permit you to listen to the gentle flow of the stream below and even the frogs as they awake from their slumbers. The piano is even older than the cottage itself and would welcome being played by a maestro or musical-aspirant alike; the bureau has penned many letters and postcards, and invites you to muse your travels to friends and family back home. With old Hobart town on one side, nature and Kunanyi/Mt Wellington towering at-large above the cottage on the other, possums and pademelon are frequent guests to our garden. Knocklofty Reserve is literally on your doorstep and will provide hours of walking and riding through the area’s local nature. The cottage was our home for over ten years, and we hope it will be home for you as you explore and adventure through Hobart and beyond. Guest access The entire cottage is yours to make home.
