If you want to "Get away from it all" then Walnut Mountain Hideaway will be exactly where you want to stay. Unplug to recharge, slow down life's crazy pace and breathe in the incredible mountain air. Spend some time enjoying the beautiful nature all around you or go "into town" and go to the Appalachian Trail, Watauga Lake, Cherokee National Forest or go to the Falls. **Tents are not included on your site. The space **Tents are not included on your site. Bring your tent, car or small camper to this very private camping spot on top of Walnut Mountain. Electric is being put on the site soon but for now the site is primitive. There is a fire pit and an extinguisher on one of the sites . There is an outhouse behind the old church next door. It is not our outhouse but the locals do use it. Guest access Our address is pretty new to the GPS system and it will not show up correctly so please plug in Walnut Mountain Church or Cemetery and it will get you to right next door to our property. Travel down the small lane that is to the left of the cemetery and our property is RIGHT behind on right side of lane/cemetery. At the bottom of the mountain it is about 9 miles to our property, 1/2 way is paved and other 1/2 is gravel. ONLY the last 2/10th of a mile is the road a bit rougher. you have access to the entire 28 acres but be aware we are not responsible for accidents, injuries of any kind. We have done our best to mark where our property ends but there are no guarantees. There are blue ribbons and butterflies that give you markers to show the three different places available to camp. Two of them are further down into the woods and one site is up at the entrance. The only site available for a small camper would be at the entrance. When checking out, please take a picture of your area and send it to me to show you've cleaned up. You will not be very far from North Carolina and Roan Mountain has pretty much any basics you would need. There is NOT good cell service at the top BUT GPS will still work if you plug in WALNUT MOUNTAIN CHURCH or CEMETERY before heading up the mountain. Other things to note Please do not leave a fire unattended every and please put out when going to sleep. This IS a mountain so there are animals such as bears, coyotes, snakes and other rodents. Keep yourself safe at all times!
