This private country estate is the perfect setting for a relaxing escape from the city. The house is surrounded by landscaped grounds with a gunnite pool, a tennis court and 10-acres of woods. Inside, the 4BR home is tastefully furnished and divided into a number of comfortable areas to relax, read and wind down, including a library, living room, dining room, porch with swing and an outdoor deck w BBQ. The fully-outfitted kitchen features Bosch appliances and everything a chef would need. The space Situated in Ancram, 8 min to Copake, 25 min to Hudson, 20 min to Catamount Ski Mountain, short drive to Tanglewood and Bard. The home was built in the nineteenth century and then underwent an expansion and so there are two connected wings permitting privacy for a group. One wing contains the bright reading room / library and beyond that, a large guest suite with its own bathroom and entrance if preferred. In the other direction, you'll come to the original living room and stairs leading to upstairs bedrooms. Passing through the living room, you’ll reach the kitchen and the dining room which overlooks the deck and pool. Beyond that, there is another large bedroom with its own full bathroom. Outside, there’s a gas BBQ on the deck. The pool has its own shaded seating area / ceiling fan and chaise lounges. The tennis court is fenced and to regulation. Tennis ball machine available upon request. Up the hill about thirty yards from the house, you’ll find a peaceful gazebo well suited to writing / reading / deliberation. The grounds are very private and surrounded by woods. The wifi has been updated to high-speed fiber. We use the property as our own retreat, so the home is fully supplied: kitchen and bath necessities, bath and pool towels, tennis rackets and balls, kids’ baseball mitts / bats and balls, yoga mats and blocks, and lacrosse gear. Also, help yourself to seasonal raspberries and blueberries around the yard. Guest access The whole house. Please be respectful of the house and all the furnishings we've lovingly chosen for it. Other things to note The house has good phone reception for AT&T and Verizon (not so much for Sprint). We have high speed fiber internet throughout the house. We do not allow parties or loud music at the premises. It’s a tranquil spot and we have neighbors in adjacent lots. We ask that the guests respect this. The pool is surrounded by a gate. It is the guests’ responsibility to keep kids safe around the pool.
