Ashton’s Retreat Cottage

Welcome to Ashton’s Retreat — a dog-friendly (other pets on approval) cottage on a peaceful 100-acre property in Ulong, just 40 minutes from Coffs Harbour. A tranquil nature escape awaits, with scenic bushwalks and a creek to explore. The cabin is set in a private part of the property, surrounded by lush rainforest home to native wildlife — including koalas, echidnas, bilbies, pademelons (small wallabies), and abundant birdlife. The space The cottage is a self-contained one-bedroom retreat with a kitchenette and bathroom, ideal for two guests or two adults and a baby. Inside, you’ll find a comfortable queen bed, a stovetop, cooking essentials, and a BBQ. Please note we don’t have a microwave, as we’re off-grid and they draw too much power. We do provide a selection of basics including oil, salt, pepper, spices, milk, tea, coffee, and muesli — plus a Nespresso machine with pods for your morning brew. A bar fridge is available in the cottage for storing food, and guests also have access to a full-size fridge/freezer located in the amenities block right next door. The nearby amenities block also includes a washing machine, clothesline, and drying rack for guest use. For comfort, the cottage is equipped with a gas heater for cooler nights and a ceiling fan with flyscreens for the warmer days. Outdoors, the cottage features a fire pit (with firewood and fire starters provided) and a front deck — perfect for relaxing with a coffee or wine while taking in the surrounding forest views. For something extra special, enjoy a soak in the outdoor bath under the open sky and stars. Guest access The cottage is located approximately 200 metres from the main house and is out of view, offering full privacy in both directions. Guests are welcome to roam freely across the 100-acre property, which features scenic bushwalks and a tranquil creek to explore. There’s also a pool available for guest use, located next to the main house. While it’s adjacent to the main house and not next to the cottage, you’re welcome to enjoy a swim and take in the view — your privacy will be respected at all times. Other things to note HOSTS: We (Glen and Carly) live in the main house on the property, but this is located well away from the cottage. The cottage is private located on the edge of the clearing next to the forest. We are available for any questions, help or a tour of the property if requested. PETS: We are pet friendly. Dogs welcome but other types of animals need to be approved. Dogs are welcome inside the cottage and outside in the well fenced yard. The outside yard and porch is perfect to leave your dog if you go out for the day. They are allowed to explore the property off lead with their owners if they do not disturb the wildlife. CHILDREN: Please let us know if you're travelling with a baby. A porta cot, baby bath and highchair can be supplied if needed. WASHING: There is a washing machine, clothes line and clothes horse to hang your washing. This is located in the amenities block next to the cottage. Registration Details PID-STRA-37377
