With 36 acres of private land backing to over 700 acres of public land, you can really escape into the gorgeous Colorado mountains. When you're done exploring you can snuggle up in the living room or loft and watch the sunset over the Sangre De Cristo mountains. A wrap-around deck is perfect for star-gazing and gathering with friends. We hope to be a short term rental in 2024. Our acreage and adjoining public land is dramatic: steep, wooded and rocky. Hikers will marvel at the scenery from the top of the nearby peak. The million-dollar views from all the decks and picture windows make staying in just as rewarding. This property is a photographer's dream. The open-concept kitchen / breakfast nook / living room on the main floor is flooded with natural light and warmed by a cozy pellet stove. Throw-blankets abound. :) The kitchen is fully stocked with all cooking implements, plates, flatware, glasses and so on. Every cook will enjoy using this space. The lower-level living room has a pool table, couches and access to a lower-level deck! A charming gas fireplace warms the lower level. Please be aware that the 3/10 mile long, bumpy drive is not suitable for ultra-low clearance vehicles, and 4WD or chains are required for very bad weather conditions. We take pride in the unique privacy of this retreat, but to give you the option of staying connected, we do offer StarLink Internet at 50-60 MBps. Starry Peaks Lodge is located in a peaceful and private setting at 9,000 feet altitude. Our nearest neighbors are deer and elk. Easily accessible from a main highway, Starry Peaks Lodge is an hour and a half into the mountains from Colorado Springs and thirty minutes from Westcliffe. National parks and mountain attractions are within an easy distance. The long driveway is steep and bumpy but easily drivable in normal weather. Not recommended for extremely low vehicles, and four-wheel-drive or chains are required in wintery weather. The three full bathrooms each feature a jetted tub! Dogs may be negotiable, please contact your host. For allergy concerns, we cannot accommodate cats or heavy-shedding dogs indoors.
