Welcome to Magnolia Cove cottage! Travel back in time along a magnolia-lined lane for a charming waterfront stay. On 11+ private acres, the guest upper cottage is separate from owner's 1937 manor home. Water surrounds the property on 3 sides. Enjoy kayaking in the Put-in-Creek and swim/fish right off your private dock. 6+ft deep water docking available for boat owners. Bike/drive minutes into the peaceful town of Mathews VA w/ galleries, shops and restaurants. Local beaches min away. The space The Outdoor Space: During your stay at Magnolia cove, you are invited to explore the 11+ acres. Enter the property along a gravel driveway, flanked by locally farmed acres on either side. The lane opens into a wide peninsula with grassy fields, lovely landscaping and the owner's 1937 white-washed brick home. A gravel stone circular driveway branches to the right with the upper cottage's 3 car parking area. A lighted path leads to a water's edge gazebo, fire pit and further down to the large dock. Nature abounds around our little point with eagles, herons and ospreys. Heading out to the bay by water, you may discover dolphins and otters. The Indoor Space: Guests have a private keyless entry into the garage where the washer/dryer, full-sized refrigerator, exercise room and a downstairs bathroom with shower are located. The exercise area features a bluetooth speaker, free weights, barbells, weight bench, elliptical, stationary bike and treadmill. Upon climbing the wide, brightly lit stairs, a second secured keyless entry opens into the 700+ square foot cottage. Our one-bedroom second floor garage apartment has been renovated in french country style with a mix of modern and vintage furnishings. The main room is open concept with a seating area, sleeping for two (daybed/trundle), smart 50 in TV, books, games and small desk. A bistro dining area with seating for 2-4 leads to the fully equipped kitchenette with an apartment sized refrigerator, electric stove, microwave, toaster and Keurig coffee maker. Large windows in the bedroom open to surrounding trees and creek. The room is furnished with a comfortable king-sized bed, small daybed, dresser, seating area, small desk, a smart TV and storage closet. Off the bedroom, the bathroom is stocked with clean towels, basic toiletries, walk-in shower and hair dryer. Wifi access is supplied by hotspot. Just outside of the cottage is a peaceful garden seating area for two surrounded by landscaping. Amenities: During your stay at Magnolia Cove, you are most welcome to enjoy the expansive grounds, walks along the lane, and the floating dock for swimming, fishing and launching kayaks. You will have access to 5 kayaks. 4 medium sized bikes and tire pump are available for use and only a few minutes ride into Mathews. *Please note that the ride into town and to side roads leading to local beaches does require a 0.5 mile ride along New Point Comfort Highway. Traffic is light along the straight route into town but the speed limit travel is 55 mph. Guest access We hope you are comfortable and enjoy all this special property has to offer. Your private access to Magnolia Cove waterfront cottage and amenities available on the property, which include kayaks, bicycles, fire pit and lovely 11 acres on the property. Guests do not have access to the boat and jet skis. Other things to note Please note that the cottage is perfect for couples or small families but does require a walk up a flight of 16 steps for apartment access on the second floor. Given the remote location, the wifi and cell service is not always reliable. A wifi hotspot is available to improve connectivity. As hosts, we will occasionally be sharing special times on the property. Please feel free to interact as much (or little) as would like. 1-2 friendly labs may be present during your stay, but will be kept away if preferable to guests. Guests are welcome to bring one dog (will consider 2) during stay. Outdoor bathing area for dog cleaning if they love to enter the creek as much as ours do. They can be secured by dog tie-out on the property.
