Kookaburra Cottage

Kookaburra Cottage is right on the doorstep to some of the most popular tourist hotspots of Mount Gambier & the Limestone Coast region, whilst providing countryside tranquility. Enjoy a soak in the outdoor bathtub whilst stargazing, roast some marshmallows around the firepit, get up close with our pet alpacas, pony & sheep, and enjoy all the modern country cottage offerings of this newly constructed home away from home. The space Kookaburra Cottage is a spacious 3 bedroom modern country cottage, constructed in 2023. The Cottage boasts a main bedroom with queen-size bed, ensuite and private outdoor claw foot bath area, a second bedroom with queen-size bed, and a third bedroom with a double bed, single bunk over-top, optional single trundle bed and a dedicated office nook. It features an open plan living/dining/kitchen area with plenty of cosy lounge-room seating space to take in the country views. The kitchen is well equipped for cooking during your stay and includes a Smeg pod coffee machine. Ducted heating/cooling is throughout. Outside there is an undercover carport, parking spaces for up to 3 cars, and a large fenced and private front lawn surrounded by paddocks. Our small Alpaca herd and two pet sheep reside in the neighbouring paddock and love being fed Alpaca grain, which you'll find in a container by the firepit area. A delightful experience for the kids! Our friendly cat Gus may also make his way over to greet you. There is a firepit area with rustic log seating and wood supplied and a barbecue for outdoor cooking. There is an outdoor park bench overlooking the animal paddock perfect for dinner by the fire. The cottage is a 10 minute drive from the City of Mount Gambier, home of the Blue Lake and Valley Lake Precinct. We are located in the small farming town of Yahl, which is the perfect location for exploring all that the Limestone Coast Region has to offer. Little Rippa Brewery and Caroline Hills Winery are both located 2 minutes away & are close enough to cycle to for a wine tasting, beer paddle or a woodfired pizza. The Kilsby Sinkhole dive site, Port MacDonnell beach, Glenelg River (great for kayaking!) and Umpherston Sinkhole all lie within a 10-30 minute drive from the cottage. Guest access The cottage is set at the front of our hobby farm, and our own family home is located at the back of the property separated by screening, shedding and a long driveway to provide our guests with utmost privacy during their stay. Other things to note Basic kitchen staples are supplied, such as spreads, coffee, tea, weetbix, cornflakes and UHT milk. Supermarkets such as Coles, Woolworths & Aldi and coffee & dining options are located in Mount Gambier, 10 minutes away. Subject to seasonal availability we may leave excess produce from our family vegetable garden & chickens for you to enjoy.
