Description
One of 2 exceptional holiday houses in Lamington National Park. Sleeps up to 4 adults in two bedrooms each with en suite plus 2 children in a "kids' loft". (Note: kids love the loft but it is not recommended for adults) Groups of more than 4 can hire the adjacent East House as well. Bookings are accepted for children 4 years and over. The house and grounds are not suitable for younger children, toddlers or babies. The space Three decks overlook the Coomera Valley. Multiple windows bring the outside in so you can watch the changing weather from your mountain eyrie. A gas fireplace and bedroom heaters keep the house warm in winter. At 900 meters above sea level the house is always 5 degrees cooler than the coast or Brisbane in summer. Air conditioning is not needed and ceiling fans add to the mountain breezes. Guest access Guests have sole use of the house including 1 to 2 bedrooms and kids' loft as reserved. If you don't reserve and pay for the second bedroom, it is locked and not available to anyone else. The laundry in a separate building is shared with one other house. The spa further up the ridge, is shared by both houses but not at the same time. A simple blackboard system allows you to book whatever time you want. Other things to note You can prepare all your own meals in the well-equipped kitchen (full size oven, five hotplates, full size fridge/freezer, microwave and all the cooking and eating utensils you could need. ) Or you can dine at the nearby Lamington Tea-house or Heritage listed Groom's Cottage - both about 500 metres away by car or on foot. Other dining options nearby include the five star Paddock Restaurant and several mountain cafes. Multiple windows, and decks allow you to interact with nature as much as possible. There are no curtains to hide the views so you might like to take eye masks if you prefer to wake in the dark. The house is inside the National Park so pets are not permitted, and the house is NOT a party house. Most visitors to the mountain top go there for the peace and quiet. Smoking is not permitted in the house, in the surrounding garden area, on the adjacent Binna Burra land or in the surrounding National Park. HOW LONG TO STAY? A week is not nearly long enough to explore Lamington National Park and the Scenic Rim. In fact, a lifetime is not long enough – however, like 80% of our guests, you can always come back next year. You need at least three days to hike the best tracks in Lamington – Coomera Falls is the best waterfall walk, Daves Creek is the best walk for vegetation while Upper or Lower Ballanjui Falls offer a range of delights. You can leave other walks such as Shipstern, (20km and the best overall hike), Gwongoorool Pool, The Caves, the Border Lookouts or Illinbah for another visit. You could devote three days to some of the Scenic Rim’s top destinations – Springbrook, Mt Tamborine and O’Reillys Green Mountains. You need time for the self-guided walk through the Australian native garden with the accent on indigenous use. 4 nights midweek. Arrive Monday, depart Friday and take advantage of the 10% midweek discount (minimum 4 nights) 3 night weekend. Arrive Friday, depart Monday. Gives you two full days in the Park plus 3 starry nights. 2 night weekend. We can’t bear the thought of you packing up at 10am on Sunday, so our popular weekend rate gives you a guaranteed very late checkout on Sunday – any time up to 6pm. The problem? This makes the weekends very popular and they book out up to 4 months ahead. We know that makes it hard to plan. 2 nights midweek. The most common comment we hear about this is “We should have stayed longer.” I know we are biased but really 2 nights makes it hard to unpack, switch off, relax and reset before you are packing up to leave. Stay 4 nights if you can.
