Umeya is a small machiya in the Nishijin area of Kyoto, renovated using traditional methods. You can reach famous places such as Kinkaku-ji, Kitano Tenmangu, the Imperial Palace, Nijo Castle, and Kamishichiken within a 15-minute bicycle ride. Note: The stairs to the second floor are quite steep. The toilet and shower room are shared and face the garden (available 24 hours a day). The space Second-floor Tatami Room A room for one guest. Wash basin Important Notice: Umeya has a slight tilt in the building, and it is not as newly equipped as a modern house or hotel. We use air conditioning, fans, and kerosene heaters for climate control, but please note that it may feel hot in summer and cold in winter for some guests. We appreciate your understanding in advance. Guest access There are 4 private rooms in the main building of the machiya. You can relax in the spacious courtyard. (Smoking is also allowed.) Additionally, you can prepare simple meals in the shared kitchen. During your stay Frontdesk 15:00-20:00 ( we are closed right after all guests check in ) Check out is self check out Other things to note Rooms are avaibale from 16:00 Check-in is during 9:00~21:00 Check out:until 11:00 * We don't accept late or early check in. (We have a smoking place in the garden) ・We have no curfew. We provide new bed sheets or towel at 100yen for each if required. *There is no TV installed Umeya is old wooden house. It's made of natural materials such as paper, mud and wood therefore it doesn't have perfect insulation. Please be quiet in the morning and night time. We provide earplugs if you get worried about noise. Although Air-conditionings, fans and oil heaters are eqipped in each rooms, you may feel hot in summer and cold in winter.
