While hiking around our volcanic hill, you will find an abundance of weird desert plants, aliens, spaceships, meteors, and other Easter eggs. You can take in panoramic views of the National Park, State Park, Santa Elena Canyon and the Chisos Mountains of Mexico directly from your Space Pod!  It's important to note that the hike up to Space Pod 005 is a short 30 second trail from the bathrooms, which can still be strenuous for some given the steepness. Inside your Space Pod, you'll find everything you need for a relaxing stay, including electrical outlets, air conditioning, a fridge, a fan, and even lasers that project iridescent nebulas gliding across your ceiling for a truly immersive experience. Our water comes from a 750-foot-deep aquifer, ensuring it is both soft and clean. Remember that water in the desert is a precious resource, so we kindly ask that you limit your showers to 5 minutes. Unlike traditional geodesic domes, our domes consist of rigid plastic, allowing us to have crystal-clear windows. With one-third of the dome being a window, you can enjoy the stars directly from your bed or close the massive curtains for some privacy. Our amenities include shared outdoor bathrooms at the bottom of the hill and indoor bathrooms at the top of the hill. We will provide you with a towel, shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. You are welcome to use our common grilling areas or enjoy the fire pit located next to your dome.  After a day spent exploring the park, watch the sunset from our hammock chairs and then relax around your own personal fire pit as the stars begin to light up the night sky. At the end of the day, slip under a plush comforter and warm blankets and sleep soundly in the Space Pod's memory foam queen size bed.  Other info: Pets: We warmly welcome up to 2 pets per dome for a flat fee of $95. To ensure a safe and enjoyable stay for all guests, we kindly ask that pets remain under supervision and within 30 feet of their owner at all times. Pets should be well-behaved and pose no danger to others. Please remember to pick up after your pets. For their safety, pets are not permitted to be left unattended in the Space Pods or tents. Failure to comply with these guidelines may result in a $200 fine and/or expulsion from the premises without a refund. Extra Guests: Each dome comes with 1 comfortable memory foam bed with white bedding and a set of towels. The terrain includes steep hills, uneven paths, and rocky areas, which may pose challenges for some guests. Guest access You have access to our whole property that features almost a mile of trails leading all the way up to our 300 ft tall volcanic hill with a 360 degree view of both Big Bend National Park, Big Bend Ranch State Park and Mexico. Other things to note BE A HAPPY CAMPER! The trails leading to the further domes (007, 008, 009, 010) can lead up to a few hundred feet away from the parking lot. This can be difficult for some and exciting for others. If you require a dome or a tent that is more accessible, please reach out to us after booking and we will do our best to accommodate your needs. The desert is full of spiders, wasps, snakes, scorpions, and other unwanted guests that could potentially find their way into your dome or tent. Although it may not be possible to keep all the critters out, closing the screen doors properly when departing will help immensely. Rattlesnakes are another resident of the desert. Please be sure to look before you step and do not attempt to move/remove any large rocks on the property. We encourage people to explore the land but also encourage safety above anything else. Since we are part of the Dark Sky Community, there are not many lights on the property or surrounding area. Always look before you step and always travel with a flashlight when walking around the site after dark. We have a huge variety of cacti and other desert plants naturally growing on our property. Although they are beautiful, they are fierce! Please be careful to not step on any plants as almost all of them will have pointy ends or thorns. Be careful to not walk into an ocotillo cactus as they tend to be taller than a person and sprawl many feet in diameter. As you get higher on the hill, the terrain off-trail consists of crumbly and sharp volcanic rock. Always walk along the trail. Do not attempt to cut corners and walk off-trail to get to your destination as rocks can slide. We also encourage you to wear hiking shoes for your safety, especially if you're going up or down the hill. Please keep in mind that the closest hospital is in Alpine over an hour away. Being in the middle of the desert, power can be unreliable. In case of an outage we have portable generators and power banks. Please be patient with any electrical issues. Guests are welcome to use the ACs as needed but must turn it off when not in the room. We have 4 showers onsite with great temperatures and pressure. However, water in the desert is extremely scarce so we kindly, kindly ask that you keep showers down to 3-5 minutes maximum. Although we don't have set quiet hours, we expect people to be kind and act respectfully to other guests in order to preserve the peace that the desert offers. If this simple rule is not followed, we will ask you to leave. Our priority is for all of our guests to enjoy their experience.
