Rose Hill is a 30 acre privately owned ranchette in rural Atascosa County. We offer 2 spacious sites with full hook ups for you to park your RV. They have easy in, easy out access. There is a picnic table & fire pit (with grill) for your use. We have mowed walking trails available for our guests enjoyment & leashed pets are welcome to accompany you. We are only a 30 min drive to many of the historic San Antonio attractions & it’s 90 mins to Corpus Christi with their attractions & beaches. Rose Hill is the perfect spot for reconnecting with nature. We have kept our place as natural & peaceful as possible making it an unforgettable escape. Located in the heart of South Texas farm & ranch country, our property is covered with scattered motts of mesquite, cactus, & native grasses. We boast having some fantastic colors with our spring, summer, & fall wildflowers. Wildlife sightings are a common occurrence for guests . We have several resident white tail deer, which include a couple of fantastic bucks, as well as quail, rabbits & a pair of armadillo. We are a birdwatchers paradise with many of the migrating birds & fowl stopping off here on their migrations north & south. One of many of our guests favorite pastimes is watching the large array of hummingbirds & purple martins. Enjoy all that the four seasons have to offer in this picturesque South Texas setting. Guests may have access to the property via our mowed walking trails & you are welcome to have your leashed pets accompany as you meander along the trails. The pond is a welcome stop as you stroll & is just a short walk from your site. The pond is the perfect place to watch a spectacular South Texas sunset or maybe catch a deer getting a quick drink. In the spring it’s not unusual to see ducks scurrying across the pond with little ducklings in tow. The cool evenings of fall, winter, & early spring provide perfect times for visiting around the fire pit while possibly grilling a brat or steak or two for dinner. Rose Hill is family owed with your hosts residing on the property. We are semi retired & always nearby to assist our guests & of course answer any questions. We want to make your stay with us is as enjoyable as possible so never hesitate to contact us for any reason. Rose Hill Is a sparsely populated area with a gently sloping terrain. Most of the surrounding properties are small working ranches. We are located in the old Shiloh Community that dates back to the 1800s. JoAnn is a 4th generation to live on this property which was homesteaded by her Great Grandparents in 1881. Just to the west of Rose Hill was the old community of Gates Valley that was founded by Gary’s 2nd Great Grandfather. Gary (a Navy Vet) has ancestors that were among the founding fathers of Texas & Atascosa County. We have ample parking for our guests on the property. Although we’re located in a rural area picking up a few food items, etc. is only a short 3 miles to the east to Leming‘s Dollar General, or 5 miles west to the local Lowe’s market in Poteet. It’s 10 miles to Pleasanton‘s local H-E-B Grocery Market & some great restaurants & eateries. Pleasanton‘s Walmart Superstore & several fast food establishments are only a fast 12 mile drive away. We’re just 30 miles from San Antonio with all it has to offer. Enjoy a fantastic day in that great historic city visiting the Alamo, The Pearl, Market Square, or spend time along the Riverwalk & Missions Trail or if you prefer spend the day at Fiesta Texas or Seaworld. In the fall some of the grain fields in this area are a favorite feeding stop for migrating dove & possibly other fowl. Although we prefer not to hunt, some neighbors do. So we ask that guests not be alarmed when they hear occasional gun shots during these seasons. We also ask that guests be aware (as in all rural settings) that we share our property with some undesirable reptiles.
