At the end of your stay, please consider leaving a tip for folks supporting your stay — the amount is entirely up to you. The kitchen won't be available during the high season (End of May to end of August) aiming to help us to provide a seamless breakfast service. We appreciate your understanding. Guest access You’ll have access to Casa Ingapura’s shared spaces: a fully equipped kitchen, a spacious living room, outdoor showers, and tables under the shade of the cashew tree. Please note: the upper veranda is exclusively reserved for guests staying in the Ingapura Suite. Important: access to the village is by boat — either via public boats, private motorboats, or by land during the dry season. We are located just 5 minutes by motorboat from the village of Atins. What makes Bar da Hora special? Here, you’ll experience true local life — rustic, peaceful, and authentic — in the heart of a traditional fishing community. It’s the perfect place to disconnect, slow down, and reflect. Services are basic, and the food is simple, regional, and full of flavor. Casa Ingapura is right on the banks of the Preguiças River, next to the Casa Novo Horizonte, making it easy to find. If needed, we can arrange for someone from the community to meet you at the port. No worries about transportation: we’ll help you with all the information you need to get from São Luís to Bar da Hora. During your stay The host will not be present at the house. However, a co-host will be available to support you during your stay. Interaction is optional — you can enjoy full privacy if you prefer. Support is provided in Portuguese only, but you can use a translation app and you’ll be kindly assisted. I'm also available to help you organize your trip — just send me a message (GMT -7 time zone). Breakfast is served from 7:30 to 9:00 AM. A kind reminder: if you feel it makes sense, tipping the co-hosts is always appreciated. They truly love when that happens. Other things to note Why choose Casa Ingapura in Bar da Hora instead of Atins? At Casa Ingapura you experience authentic, regenerative tourism in the heart of the Lençóis Maranhenses National Park. Located in the peaceful fishing village of Bar da Hora, our lodge offers comfort, quiet, and genuine connection — a restorative alternative to crowded and mass tourism in Atins. Winner of the Braztoa Sustainability Award 2024, our project supports regenerative tourism by sharing benefits with local families, creating fair opportunities, and protecting nature. Here, travel is not mass tourism — it is meaningful, respectful, and sustainable. If you need a lot of business highly hype and gentrified, please find a location in Atins. Your stay is a sensory detox: listen to the river and birds, taste fresh local food, feel artisanal crafts in your hands, and witness unforgettable sunrises and sunsets over the Rio Preguiças. Bar da Hora is also close to unique attractions like Caburé Beach and the Preguiças Lighthouse, while Atins remains accessible through our guided tours that double as transportation.
