Description
Perfect place to focus on your art or cross-country training, or just sit and wonder. We're on a sweet little acre on a private road, with expansive views of farmland and mountains. The suite has three rooms (two for sleeping and one for admiring the view a sipping your drink of choice) plus a full bathroom, and access to a shared, fully-stocked kitchen. Five miles from Montpelier, 1.5 miles from the co-op in Adamant village, 15 minutes from Maple Corner and the Whammy Bar, Barre, and I-89. The space Guests have a spacious three-room suite and a private bathroom on the second floor of our home. The space has lots of windows and is accessed through the main house, yet has a strong sense of privacy. There's a queen bed and a double bed; French doors separating the two bedrooms. There are two closets, a couch and TV, a bureau, table and chairs, games, books and puzzles, a mini-fridge, microwave, teapot and coffeemaker. We supply fresh-ground coffee, a variety of teas, a few snacks, plates and mugs, and an awe-inspiring view. There are two or three steps up when accessing any of the three entranceway doors to the house. There's also a full set of stairs to the second floor with a bannister the whole way up. Guest access The house sits above farmland and the spectacular view is quite soothing. The yard is a work in progress, scattered with flower beds, rock walls, and vegetable gardens. We've planted picnic tables, decks and benches all around, and guests are welcome to hang out wherever. The first floor of the house has a large mudroom, a big and fun kitchen, and living space - to which we added a lovely sunroom this past summer. Guests are welcome to use the space, if comfortable bumping into your hosts (Linda, Nipa, and/or Clementine). There is laundry in the basement - just ask if you want to use it. We are sensitive hosts, welcoming and accommodating. We want your visit to exceed expectations, for you to feel at home, and for you to experience why this area is one of the most desirable places to live in the country. During your stay There is a notebook in the suite full of ideas, maps and inspiration. We are happy to share suggestions, tips, directions, etc., and answer questions. We both live here, and we share our cell numbers, so we're easily available. We also grant and assume self-sufficiency and independence - and the space is set up to accommodate that. Other things to note There is parking for one or two cars; roads are dirt (the nearest pavement is about a mile away). We recommend eating or grabbing take-out in town before you come. There is no Uber or Lyft in the area and food delivery is limited to Dominos (if that). Nearby alternatives to Montpelier are Plainfield (Positive Pie) and Maple Corner (The Whammy Bar). Good to check hours online first. For longer stays, our manual has lots of suggestions for dining in the area. There's a large food coop (Hunger Mountain) in Montpelier, as well as a Shaw's supermarket. There's also the friendly, quaint and well-stocked Adamant Coop 1.5 miles down the road and open M-F with shortened hours over the weekend. The road from Montpelier is generally up hill - I have been known to come to town to pick up tired cyclists ;-) We only open our Airbnb space for six months, between mud season and stick season (May to October). We have a super sweet new-to-us dog, Clementine, who will forever be overcoming her timidity and shyness around strangers. She can startle easily, however, and typically prefers that she come to you. Gaining confidence every day.
