Crooked Maple Treehouse
Description
Nestled in the heart of the Vermont Green Mountains, the Crooked Maple Treehouse is handcrafted from timber harvested and milled on-site by the owner, Brett. Thoughtfully crafted to create a rustic and cozy retreat. Take this opportunity to escape your busy everyday life to appreciate the simplicity and solitude of living off the grid at the Crooked Maple. The space Situated on 30 private acres, the treehouse is built upon a pair of ash trees and three maple trees which create an idyllic treehouse experience. Enjoy the beauty of the serene forest below from the large deck bartop or cozy up to the propane fire pit table on cooler nights. The Crooked Maple is a four-season treehouse that can accommodate two adults. The lofted bedroom has a queen sized bed accessible by a staircase that can be raised and lowered as needed to provide more floor space on the main level. Water is gravity fed, so even without electricity, the bathroom offers running water and a traditional flushable toilet. The indoor and outdoor showers are both served by a hot water heater. The small kitchenette is equipped with a propane dual-burner stovetop and a small sink with potable water supplied via battery pump. All utensils, plates, cups, and basic kitchen accessories (including a pour-over coffee maker) have been supplied in the treehouse. As there is no electricity in the treehouse there is no refrigerator, however the owner supplied cooler will keep your food and drinks cold (be sure to bring your own ice). For those wishing to spend as much time in nature as possible, the deck is home to a gas grill which will allow you to cook as you enjoy the outdoors. Although the treehouse has many modern amenities, we still consider it "camping". You should expect to see/hear wildlife, both big and small. We do our best to keep the treehouse bug and critter-free, but bugs and small critters are a part of nature and might make guest appearances during your stay. Located just over the Rochester line in Bethel, Vermont, the Crooked Maple has easy access to the towns of Bethel, Rochester, and Randolph with great restaurants and bars and local events including drive-in movies, town fairs, and musical festivals. Killington is a short and scenic 25 minute drive. Vermont’s scenic Route 100 Byway passes through Rochester and is touted as New England’s most scenic drives. Extensive and well-maintained trails pass near the treehouse for snowmobiling, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, 4-wheeling, mountain biking, and hiking. Check out the welcome book for more suggestions/information on local watering holes, outdoor activities, and trail maps! Enjoy the simplicity of nature without the distractions of everyday life. There is no WiFi and cell service can be spotty at times. We do provide a solar cell phone charger for your stay. Although the Crooked Maple is very well built and structurally safe, it is not child or pet friendly due to its elevation above the forest floor. We cannot accept any occupant below the age of 18 and no pets allowed. Must be 21 years of age or older to rent. The treehouse is tucked away within the woods and is only accessible by foot. There is a designated parking area for your vehicle, but you will need to walk up a steep 200 foot hill before arriving at the treehouse. Be sure to wear appropriate footwear and be prepared for a climb! There are also stairs leading up to the treehouse and up to the bedroom loft. For this reason, the treehouse is best suited for able adults. What is provided during your stay: · Bedroom linens · Bathroom towels/washcloths · 5 gallons drinking water · Batteries - all indoor lighting is battery operated · Flashlights, lanterns, 2 headlamps, solar cell phone charger · Propane tanks for heating/cooking · Insulated cooler – there is no refrigerator, but the cooler will keep your perishable foods cold for the duration of your stay. When bringing food keep in mind the limited space (local grocery mart is a quick 10min drive) and you are responsible for supplying your own ice. BE MINDFUL: All water needs to be trucked-in, so we ask that you be mindful of that during your stay and try not to leave water running longer than is necessary. There is NO electricity, NO air conditioning, NO WiFi, NO television. Absolutely NO smoking allowed anywhere on the premises. Evidence of smoking will be subject to a penalty fee. You may see large wildlife including deer, bear, and moose. Although we do our best to keep the treehouse bug and critter-free, bugs and small critters are a part of nature and might make guest appearances during your stay. The treehouse is handcrafted from rough sawn lumber, giving it a unique rustic appearance. However, rough sawn lumber can have small sawdust particles that may linger after production. This is normal and you may see tiny amounts of sawdust in the treehouse. As a safety precaution, we do not allow guests to stay in the treehouse if winds are gusting over 30mph. We will contact you in the event of severe winds and a full refund will be issued. Follow us @crookedmapletreehouse Photography courtesy of Squarelight Photography
