Description
This house is on Salem Ave., which has many fine antebellum mansions. In 1967 the owners of my house added a 4,000 sq. ft. addition for business entertaining. You will have exclusive use of 2,000 sq. ft. plus shared use of the 1,600 sq. ft. bar and sunroom area. I tend to stay away from these areas when the back wing is rented, so my guests mostly have the entire wing to themselves. The space Please note that I live on site in the front or "old" house. You will never see me in the 2,000 sq. ft. lockoff, but might run into me in the sun room, or bar, although I tend to avoid the bar and sunroom so my guests can enjoy them. There is a very chance I might have some friends over to the bar, but it is rare. There are no worries about bothering me or the neighbors with a loud television or music so long as it is kept indoors, because I have a large lot and the front of the house is so far away I can't hear anything. This doesn't mean to book a band or make a contest out of it! The bar area has about 1,000 sq. ft., a large bar, and numerous tables and high-tops. Behind the bar is a kitchenette that includes a large mini-fridge with freezer (5.5 cu. ft.), microwave/convection oven, induction plate, and dishes and cutlery. There is a 65-inch TV behind the bar. Guests are welcome to use the bar area if it is not otherwise engaged. Bedrooms are as follows: 1: A hotel-style bedroom with en suite bathroom and a queen bed. 2: A hotel-style bedroom with en suite bathroom and a queen bed. 3: A very basic, windowless bedroom in what was a secretary's office and two twin beds. Bathroom is in the exercise room across the hall. The room does have a TV. Extra beds: I have four 4-inch thick foam fold-out twin mattresses and one queen fold-out mattress. I would describe these as more comfortable than an air mattress and less comfortable than my real beds. These are good for large groups, and the space is large enough that they can be placed in areas where there will be privacy. I will provide linens for the fold-out beds, but guests will need to make these beds up themselves; this allows them to place the fold-out beds where they wish. Please note that I have additional bedrooms plus an adjoining 2 BR house as well as folding floor mattresses that could house up to 16 people. If interested in housing a large group, just ask and I can perhaps accommodate your group. I have a large parking area and my backyard is fenced and gated. Guests traveling with trailers or construction equipment are welcome to park their equipment in the secured parking area at night as there is plenty of room. I am in the process of installing exterior security cameras that will point at the driveway. Guest access Guests will have exclusive use of the 2,000 sq. ft. upstairs area of the rear addition as well as the large balcony area. They will also have "shared" use of the 1,000 sq. ft. bar downstairs and adjoining sunroom, which I have set up as a breakfast area (It would also be a good place to work on a laptop!). When I am home guests will be able to use my laundry room ($5 per load) but will not have exclusive use of these areas. I also have a kitchenette set up behind the bar downstairs that can be used for simple meals. Other things to note There is a not-so-busy train track about one-quarter mile away. I don't think I've ever been awakened by a train, but if I am awake at night and in bed I can hear the whistle. I have a security camera on my driveway. This house is an ideal event venue for about 200 people indoors, double that if the back yard and front porch are included. The amount I charge for an event is competitive, but it's substantially more than the cost of a single room. I can and will lock the driveway gate if necessary to prevent unscheduled events from taking place. Please do not attempt to have an event without making advance arrangements. No pets and no smoking inside the house. I have a couple of designated smoking areas outside. Please be courteous so that we may all co-exist! I have both a Tesla Wall Charger and a NEMA 4-50 outlet available for EV charging.
