Description

A comfortable one bedroom Granary conversion at Lower Calbourne Mill, a peaceful, setting with private patio and wood fired hot tub for total relaxation. Whether you intend an adventurous holiday exploring the Island and its beaches by foot or by bicycle, or if you just want a hideaway for peace and quiet, r & r, the Granary can meet your needs. It benefits from the surrounding history of the watermill, with the contemporary facilities and interiors of the sympathetic conversion. The space Enter the Granary through the stable door straight into the open plan living area. The light filled space has high ceilings with windows to bring the outside in. A large comfy sofa and nest egg chair provide options for curling up with a book or to watch a film. On a bright day, throw open the patio doors and extend your living onto the private patio, to enjoy breakfast by the stream/river side depending on the Island's rainfall. Set the wood fire going to luxuriate in the hot tub at the end of the day, where you can gaze at the stars without any ambient light. Back inside, the fully equipped kitchen is easy to use with a breakfast bar for lighter meals. Or at the end of the day set up a romantic meal in the dining space alongside the cosy log burner. Please remember to bring charcoal if you want to make use of the BBQ. The bedroom is deceiving in size, easily accommodating a super king bed, chair and chest of drawers. Alongside this is the spacious shower room to start your day with a zesty shower. One point to note is that some guests over six foot will have difficulty in some areas of the Granary, notably by the kitchen sink and in the bedroom on one side only, the rest of the space, they can stretch out. Guest access The Granary is a detached barn conversion adjacent to the Mill House where we live with our dogs Jackson and Nellie. We share a communal courtyard and main driveway with guests to The Brewery, our other other detached barn conversion which can be booked through AirBnb. The working mill building is intact with the water wheel, grind stones, threshers and the old bakery. At the front of the property is the mill pond and the Caulbourne river runs through the properties. Other things to note Contact me with your email address to receive 15% off Wightlink ferries. The Granary dates back to the 1700s and therefore it has quirks of a historical listed property. Part of the roof on the Granary is not tiled and if the rain is heavy, you hear the rainfall, like you would in a caravan or boat. I find it soporific, but if you don't want to feel the age and original purpose of the building at all, it may not be what you are looking for. As the seasons get colder you may also need the log burner as well as the electric storage heaters to feel toasty and do bring slippers as the floors are tiled.
