Description

This beautiful, backyard cottage is located in Boise's North End. Camel's Back Park and miles of trails are just out the back gate and a short walk brings you to the Boise Co-op and wine shop or Hyde Park's food, coffee and shops. I provide 2 bikes for guest use. Please note; my minimum stay is 2 nights and there is no TV in the cottage. If you want to bring your dog, please read the "other things to note" for details and contact me to let me know. I don’t allow cats in the cottage. The space The cottage is beautifully appointed with an organic wool and cotton mattress, memory foam topper, high thread count, cotton bed linens and big, soft towels. Silk and linen curtains add a luxurious feel. The bathroom, now a separate room with barn door and floor to ceiling walls for privacy, has a full shower with marble tile and a slate floor. Shower gel, shampoo and conditioner are provided. Hot water is from an "on demand" water heater, so you never run out. There are heaters in the main room and bathroom for winter time and I put in a small air conditioner for summer. The water is all filtered through an expensive, full house system, so it tastes great, has no chlorine and lets us all reduce the plastic bottles on the planet. I have a boisterous, mature garden that feels like an oasis much of the year, if you'd like to sit outside at the little bistro table for your morning coffee. You are welcome to use herbs from the garden for cooking. They are tucked in with the decorative plants, so just let me know if you'd like to pick something and I'll show you where they all are. There is one sink in the cottage, big enough for doing dishes, that also serves for personal use. I have had some guests suggest a second sink for the bathroom, but the space is too small to accommodate one comfortably. The vast majority of people have been perfectly comfortable, but I like to be clear in the event anyone might have qualms about the dual use. There is a small, comfortable couch for relaxing. For eating and working, there is a bar counter with two stools. I have the fastest wifi available, so it won't slow you down, if you are in Boise for work. The kitchen area has an induction hot plate that is very efficient and safe, pots and pans, colander, grater, peeler, a full complement of quality flatware and cooking utensils. I provide salt and pepper and olive oil as well as tea and coffee with sugar and honey to start your morning off well. I don't provide cream or milk as everyone's tastes differ and I didn't like to waste it when people didn't use it. Grab some on your way by the co-op when you come up to the cottage! The Boise co-op is nearby for basic, organic and gourmet provisions, if you'd like to prepare your own meals. The co-op has an excellent wine shop as well. There are several restaurants and great coffee shops a few blocks away in Hyde Park, if you'd rather let someone else tend to your food needs during your stay. We have a cat named Gracie, who is not allowed in the cottage. She's pretty shy, but feel free to pet or play with her when she's out and about. We also have two young dogs who may be in the back yard sometimes. They bark and like to greet everyone. Please don't let them jump up on you or go into the cottage. We are working on their manners, but they are young and enthusiastic! We pick up poop daily, but you may see some from time to time. I have have a child living with me. She will have friends over and they also enjoy the garden space the cottage shares with the main house. They will never be outside in the early morning or at night, unless I'm having people over, which I would make sure to notify guests about. Guest access Guests can park on the street in front of the main house or in front of my studio building. There are several gates into the property for easy access to your car or the park and trails. I ask guests to come through the front yard and use the gate on the north side of the house (right-hand side if you're facing the front door), if parked in front, to get to the cottage. There is no designated parking, but the street has lots of room, except during the Hyde Park Street Fair in September. If you want to park on Heron street, you can come down the alley to the back gate next to the cottage for access. There is a small sign on the gate with the address, so you know you're in the right place. Other things to note I require a 2 night minimum stay. The whole property is non-smoking/vaping. There is no TV in the cottage. High speed internet is available so you cn stream with your computer easily. It may be possible for you to bring your dog to the cottage We love dogs and welcome them, but there are a few important points that need to be addressed. I have a very sweet cat and any dogs that visit need to be able to leave her be. We also have young dogs, so your dog must be comfortable with other dogs. My garden is very well tended and digging or scratching are not okay. The park and trails, which allow dogs, including some off leash areas, are just across the street, so there are great, easy options for dogs that need to go wild. I also ask people to thoroughly clean up after their dog on the property and at the park. And lastly, dogs that visit can't have a tendency to bite. Of course, you can keep the dog in the cottage except when it is with you and on-leash and most of these wouldn't be an issue. Please don't leave your dog unattended in the cottage if there is a possibility that your dog may bark while you are away. It's stressful for our family to be in the garden with an anxious dog in the cottage. I do charge a pet fee of $35 for one dog and $45 for two with a 50 pound weight limit. I can provide dog towels if the weather is wet or muddy and you need to clean them up a bit before heading into the cottage. PLEASE KEEP DOGS OFF THE FURNITURE AND BED. There has been damage to furniture and bedding over the years, so please ensure that only people use the furniture and bed. I can't accept cats in the cottage. This area is fairly quiet. There can be some weekend noise from the park and the rubbish men come on Wednesday mornings, but not too early. One wall of the cottage runs along the alley behind the property, but it's not used very much by cars, so I've never had any complaints.
