Horses, cattle and sheep graze in the surrounding paddocks and fields and we keep our beehives there as well ( although far away from the house!). The house has an abundance of original Georgian features including the sash windows and their original glass with all its many wonderful imperfections. The Copper Beech and Yew tree which stand sentinel in front of the residence are believed to have been planted around the time the house was built. The farm was a centre for growing and processing flax which was used in the Linen Trade in Belfast in the 1800's, the remains of the Flax Mill still visible from the house. The blue flowered flax was dried and bleached in one of the fields near the Mill which is still called the Bluen-Knowe today. Beetling, retting and scutching of flax was carried out in the Mill and nearby river, which was also used to drive the cornmill which existed on the farm at that time. The farmhouse is spacious - 2 large double bedrooms and a twin room are available, 2 reception rooms (Drawing Room, Breakfast Room), Scullery and a very well- equipped kitchen are also available. There are 2 open fires in the Drawing and Breakfast rooms and recently installed central heating throughout. A substantial, private and peaceful Riverside Garden, large private rear courtyard and gardens to the front and side of the house are available for use. The farmhouse has recently been renovated to a high standard and we welcomed our first Guests in 2023. We have been approved and certified by the Northern Ireland Tourist Board (NITB). Attention to detail throughout including designer wallpapers, luxurious down duvets, 300 thread count bedding and the top-rated Scooms Egyptian cotton towels. *PS Please note all bookings are 3 night minimum. Unfortunately, the farmhouse isn’t suitable for children under the age of 12 years or pets. Thank you * Guest access Guests have use of the front garden and the substantial, private, riverside garden to the side of the house. Garden furniture available for this area.
