This light and airy home is on the edge of the UNESCO Lake District National Park, a 20-minute drive from the northern fells or miles of peaceful coastline. Cockermouth castle is only a short walk away together with town amenities and main bus routes. Enjoy the quirky layout, with views of rural town life from the first floor kitchen diner. Sprinkled with artworks and books, a strong shower, log-burner and private walled garden, this is a unique place from which to base your stay in the lakes. The space The kitchen drawers are fully stocked with all you could need, whether its cake-making or cooking a roast dinner, and there’s also a washer-dryer. The table and chairs are a vintage piece, with a local history connection. The lounge has a modern eclectic feel, with the contemporary paintings dotted about. The 3-seater sofa and armchair are super comfy, the Wifi is fast, and the TV is Smart, with Netflix installed. Unusually, the master double bedroom is on the ground floor, but this is handy for access to the back garden on a crisp bright morning. The twin room is on the first floor next to the bathroom, with hairdryer and dressing table, and a whimsical décor to carry you off into your sweet dreams. The bathroom has a strong hot shower and wide bath. The rear walled garden bursts with flowers, greenery and blossoms throughout the year, a beautiful outside space in which to relax. There is a shared alley, accessed via an unlocked door onto the street, where bikes and outdoor gear can be stored temporarily. There is an outdoor tap for washing equipment etc. Guest access The whole house and garden are for your sole enjoyment. The side alley access to the rear is the only shared space. Other things to note There is a slightly steep step up to the front door of the house. There is extensive free roadside parking, which can occasionally get busy, but never to the point of parking not being available. The road is busy during the day, with a fair amount of traffic at peak periods. However, this quietens down in the evening, and this proximity to the town centre and riverside parkland, means you have only a 5-minute walk to amenities, such as pubs, restaurants and supermarkets. Walking left from the property takes you up into the very old village of Papcastle and onwards to country paths and lanes. The best of both worlds!
