This tiny home/ studio features unique design elements, global decor and hi-tech amenities. Keurig coffee, Marley Bluetooth speaker, an LED ring light and a Smart TV. Breakfast and snacks provided. Studio attached to a historic 104-year-old home, 2 blks to the B-Line, Hopscotch Coffee and Cardinal Spirits. 15 min walk to downtown. 25 min walk to IU campus. Covered patio with views of historic limestone church. Super fast Wi-Fi throughout - perfect for business/student travelers and couples. This tiny home/cabin-sized, sunny and inviting space is filled with mid-century modern furnishings, as well as unique global decor collected from my travels around Africa and the Middle East. I hope the use of wood, leather, stone and other natural materials throughout the space will help you feel more connected to nature and at ease during your stay. The east-facing wall is made up of three large windows, inviting indirect sunlight from the spacious backyard into the living and bedroom areas throughout the day. Wind down in the evenings on the covered porch or clear your head in the morning with a fresh, hot coffee and simply enjoy the clean Indiana air. This space is small, simple and has everything you need to make the most out of your stay in Bloomington. The covered porch adjacent to the concrete, off-street parking spot for this apartment features outdoor seating for up to three people with Turkish pillows and hanging Moroccan lamps to brighten your evenings. The entrance to the apartment features a bar cart with ice bucket and wine opener for celebrating special occasions or enjoying a bottle of wine from one of our local wineries. The living room features a faux tan leather full-size sofa futon which folds into a full-size bed. The brightly colored Turkish and Indian pillows in the living room compliment the more subtle and natural wood tones of the apartment. A mango wood bookcase features a Bob Marley brand bluetooth speaker, tabletop games, puzzles, two 5-lb weights, and a color-changing 15-inch ringlight for fun and creative room lighting. The 32-inch smart Roku TV with remote will allow you to stream all your favorite shows in the evenings, while the lovely mid-century desk will allow you to focus on your work during the day. Artwork includes a Van Gogh forest print, a wooden serving tray with inlaid mother of pearl from Morocco, as well as two original landscape paintings signed by the artists. The soapstone horse napkin holder is a souvenir from Rwanda. The kitchen is small but packed with possibilities! Everything you might need for cooking your own meals, including a refrigerator, freezer, microwave, Keurig coffee maker. The double-basin sink includes a Pur water purifier for drinking water and a faucet sprayer for ease of washing/rinsing your dishes. The art print is a bird taking its first flight from a bamboo forest. The bedroom features a full-size bed with 10-inch cooling memory foam mattress and all-cotton bedding and linens. Moon print above the bed, Turkish pillows, Moroccan lamps and electric candles will all ensure you will sleep well in this room. The wooden headrest above the bed is from Ghana, the wood mirror with fruit theme is a local antique and the Chinese scroll on the wall opposite features peaches of longevity. The closet behind the bed includes space for guests to hang their clothes. The bathroom features a tiled walk-in shower, African-tribal themed wallpaper and two paper art souvenirs from Ethiopia. There is a plug-in near the light above the mirror for using electric razors or hairdryers. The shelf outside the bathroom includes cleaning items, extra linens and towels, a weighted blanket and a hairdryer. There is also a folding dog crate available for guests with dogs. The large, fenced backyard is shared with myself and other guests. It features a secure 5-foot fence with two gates, fire pit, chairs, bench swing, small charcoal bbq and a flower garden. Play items include: three bicycles in the shed for guest use, coloring books and colored pencils, playing cards, puzzles, board games, porch swing, fire pit, geodes and other curiosities around the property. You will have this entire studio apartment and covered front patio to yourself. The attached back garden area is fenced/gated and shared with other guests and their dogs from the other two guest suites in this home. Park in the off-site concrete area next to the front porch. If you need more parking space, you can also park on the street next to the backyard. Message me for specialty parking needs, as I normally can provide an extra spot or two as needed. I try to meet all guests at check-in, which is normally any time after 3-4pm, or can be as early as 1pm if you message me in advance to arrange it. I’m also highly responsive to messaging on the Airbnb app or by text messaging. In an emergency, please call me on the phone, leave a voicemail, and I will call you right back. The studio is just 2 blocks from the B-Line, which provides you with easy access to downtown or to the Rail Trails. Walk to Cardinal Spirits craft distillery & restaurant, Hopscotch coffee, Southern Stone restaurant, Feast wine bar and Switchyard Park. Indiana University campus is a 5-minute drive or a 25-minute walk. Downtown Bloomington is a 5-minute drive or a 15-minute walk. The peaceful and historic McDoel Gardens neighborhood is composed mostly of houses built around 1920-40's, including this house, which was built in 1920. You'll see lots of cool architecture, organic gardens, butterfly habitats and the like around here. A bike greenway goes right in front of the studio and connects to the paved B-Line pedestrian walking and bike path, which leads to downtown Bloomington (0.8 mile). This house is located catty corner from the historic and lovely limestone McDoel Baptist Church, which also doubles as Hoosier Heights Climbing Gym these days! For grabbing a drink or a bite to eat, I personally love Cardinal Spirits, a locally owned distillery, cocktail bar and eatery which is two blocks east. Try their seasonal special cocktails and sit outside on the deck! Hopscotch Coffee is across the B-Line from Cardinal Spirits, and they have strong coffee and Wi-Fi if you get tired of working in the studio or want to have a casual business meeting. Feast Market and Wine Cellar is also highly recommended two blocks south on Rogers St. - try the cheese plate! Parking - You can park on the concrete area next to the patio. You can also park in the street next to the yard if you prefer Biking - You can keep your bike in the locked backyard shed or use one of the 3 bikes I keep in their for guests. A bikeway runs in front of the studio and connects to the B-Line paved trail that runs into downtown. There are also lots of bike lanes throughout Bloomington. Remember, this is the home of the Little 500 Bike Race :) Bloomington is one of the Midwest's most bikable cities! There are also 7+ miles of connected paved trail that runs near the studio that you can bike. Walking - It's a 15-minute (0.8-mile) walk to downtown, 25 min to IU. You can also walk to lots of places to eat and drink within a couple of blocks. City Bus - The city bus stops just a block north on Rogers St. There is a bus schedule inside the studio. Public transportation from Indy airport - Take one of the express buses that go to Bloomington from the Indy airport. Get off at Holiday Inn (the first stop in Bloomington or the last one on the way to Indy airport) and take an Uber to the studio. Renting Bikes & E-Scooters - The city has a bikeshare program with bikes for rent $1/30 minutes. Let me know if you want one and I can help you find one close to the studio. Pedego also rents electric bikes for the day for around $20-$30. There are also Bird and Lime electric scooters all over town. Renting a Vehicle - Enterprise is within walking distance on S. Walnut St. and is the best car rental company in town. Hertz is also nearby. Heating and Cooling: You have a lot of options! Recent upgrade to a mini-split AC/heating system, plus radiant baseboard heaters are also available for use as needed. Breakfast: Breakfast is DIY and includes a variety of cereal, milk, yogurt, granola, fresh eggs, pancake mix and similar items. Cooking: There are two electric burners for cooking. There is no oven at this time. Privacy: This is a studio apartment, which means there is very little privacy between people within the space - there is only a partial wall with no door between the bedroom/living room sleeping areas, and the bathroom sliding door does not afford much privacy. This space is great for solo travelers, couples, families and very close friends - possibly not a good fit for business colleagues or others needing to maintain privacy between them. Mobility: There is a 14-inch step up into the bathroom. The kitchen and bathroom spaces are also quite narrow in spots, so please check the pictures of those rooms before booking if you have challenges negotiating tight spaces. Travel Pad: I have another bnb listing next door to this one, so if the dates you want to book are already taken, try that calendar: Boho-Chic Travel Pad + Fireplace, Breakfast, Yard. The travel pad is twice as big as the studio - it is 650 sq ft and sleeps 4 people max.
