Other things to note RAIN WATER TANKS ALL water in Boreen Point is collected off our roofs and stored in rain water tanks. This is our only source of water. Please adopt water saving habits when in the house. Do not wash boats or cars. Be aware of water usage. BOIL YOUR DRINKING WATER The local residents drink directly from the tanks, though many have filters, and are accus- tomed to the water quality. However, it is highly recommended that you BOIL ALL DRINK- ING WATER and store in the fridge. This is particularly important after rain. Alternatively you can purchase bottled drinking water from the general store. SEPTIC SYSTEM Please don’t dispose any foreign objects into the toilet like nappies, wipes or similar. As this will cause blockage. POWER LOSS Please be aware that blackouts can occur at anytime, but more frequently during storms and lightening strikes. When power goes off, you will not have access to water, as water is pumped into the house from the water tanks. Please ensure if a storm is on approach you have adequate drinking water. Toilets can be flushed with a bucket with water from the lake if necessary. If a blackout occurs at night you will need a torch or candles to see. Most houses pro- vide candles for power outages at night, please ensure they are kept in a solid container to avoid the risk of fire and use for blackouts only.
