The rental property is a separate apartment that occupies the entire upstairs of the house. The property has a stunning sea view. Within cycling distance of many good restaurants. Hälsö is a perfect base for exploring the archipelago’s amazing nature and wildlife. The neighboring islands of Öckerö, Hönö, and Fotö can be reached via bridges. The property is also within walking and cycling distance of ferries that will take you to the other nearby islands (Rörö, Hyppel, Källö-Knippla, Grötö, Kalvsund, and Björkö). A bus stop for transport to central Gothenburg is just 20 meters from the accommodation. DEFAULT The apartment is newly renovated in a modern, classic style. It is bright and airy. Most of the furniture was purchased between 2023 and 2025, and the home has beautiful hardwood floors throughout (fully tiled bathroom). Well-equipped kitchen with all the usual amenities. Seating areas on the balcony and in the garden. It is possible to close off all rooms using sliding doors, but the floor plan includes open-plan rooms. WELCOME GUESTS The listing is best suited for a couple or a family. Children from 8 years of age. Smoking or pets are not allowed due to allergy. Reservations are made for personal stays, and the person responsible for the reservation must be at least 25 years old. When making a booking request, please specify all guests by name and age. Maximum 5 guests, of which no more than 3 adults. The limit is set based on the size of the residence, seating, beds, and the hot water capacity. Extra mattresses or sleeping on the sofa are not allowed. Unfortunately, the accommodation is not suitable for younger children, nor is it suitable for people with mobility or visual impairments. FLOOR PLAN AND EQUIPMENT Overview The apartment is accessed via a stairwell shared with the lower floor, but has its own lockable entrance. The only entrance to the apartment is through the kitchen (the door between Bedroom 2 and the hallway is blocked). Bedroom 2 is accessed via Bedroom 1, and Bedroom 3 is accessed via Bedroom 2. Bathrooms Small but fresh, fully tiled bathroom with a shower, toilet, and sink. Hairdryer available. Clothes drying rack available. Bedroom 1 Single bed 90×200 cm, wardrobe, and reading armchair with footstool. Room-darkening shades. Exit to balcony. Sea Views Balcony Furnished during the summer with chairs, a bench, and a table. Additional seating and a charcoal grill (Weber) are available in the garden. Bedroom 2 Double bed, 180 × 200 cm (two 90 cm beds). Desk with bookshelf. Room-darkening shades. Sea Views Bedroom 3 A smaller room/dressing room with a window. Single bed 90 × 200 cm and clothes storage. BEDS All five sleeping places are real, full-size beds (no bunk beds or sofa beds). The beds in bedrooms 1 and 2 have good-quality pocket-coil bases with sturdy mattress pads. Medium to firm in terms of comfort. The beds in the living room and bedroom 3 also both have thick bed mattresses and pocket coil bases, but are of softer comfort and are therefore best suited for children, teenagers or lighter adults. Come Guest access The rental apartment occupies the entire upstairs of Villa Tjolmen and has its own lockable entrance. The host sometimes lives in the apartment on the lower floor. SHEETS AND TOWELS Bed linens and towels for indoor use are included (one set per person). Two kitchen towels are included per group. Beach towels are not included; please bring your own. Additional sets of bed linens and towels can be ordered for a fee after booking. Information will be sent in the guest guide before arrival. WASHING AND DRYING A clothesline for bathing suits is available in the garden. Laundry facilities are available for a fee at Öckerö Guest Marina, during the marina season. OUTSIDE, SWIMMING, AND SURROUNDINGS The sea is on both sides of the house. The best view is from the front, where the harbor entrance is directly across the road. About 100 meters behind the house, there is a rock pool with a swimming ladder and smooth rocks. A few hundred meters away, there is a swimming area with a small beach and a jetty. From the balcony and both bedrooms, there are views of Hälsö Harbor and the fjord between Björkö and Hälsö. Guests are welcome to use the flat lawn at the front of the house. During the summer, there is a small seating area and a Weber kettle grill here. The back of the property and the patios there are the host’s private areas. PARKING Free parking is available on the street in front of the house and in Hälsö Harbor. BIKES At least two basic bicycles are available to borrow free of charge during the summer. Locks are available. Please bring your own bicycle helmet. Additional bicycles can potentially be arranged upon request. Other things to note ISLANDS NEARBY Hälsö is one of ten islands in Öckerö municipality. The island is accessed via the free car ferry between Lilla Varholmen and Hönö. There is no need to book the ferry, and it usually departs every 10–30 minutes during the day. There are many great hiking trails, swimming opportunities, and nature experiences on both Hälsö and nearby islands. Most islands also have restaurants and cafés. The islands of Hönö, Öckerö, and Fotö can be reached from Hälsö via bridges. There is a free car and passenger ferry service from Burö Ferry Terminal on the north side of Hälsö to the northern islands of Hyppeln, Rörö, and Källö-Knippla. From the Öckerö ferry terminal, a passenger ferry (for a fee) goes to Kalvsund, Björkö, and Grötö. None of the ferries need to be booked, and bicycles can be taken on all of them. EXCURSIONS IN THE ARCHIPELAGO The northern part of the Gothenburg archipelago is known for its granite cliffs, small fishing harbors, and open sea views. Some easy activities nearby: • Hike in the Rörö Nature Reserve, where heathland meets the sea. Here, you can sometimes see wild horses and sheep grazing. • Go for a morning walk to the highest point on Hälsö and look out over the archipelago. On clear days, you can see Vinga Lighthouse, Marstrand, and sometimes even Skagen Lighthouse on the horizon. • Visit the fishing port in Hönö Klåva and watch the boats come in in the morning. • Paddle a kayak between islands and islets, or join an organized seal safari. • Take a boat trip to Vinga, the lighthouse at the entrance to the Port of Gothenburg.
