Millstone Manor rests in the valley between New York and Connecticut--an ideal location to work and play. We are in the eastern Hudson Valley of New York, next to the nearby Litchfield Hills of Northwestern Connecticut. A shared driveway leads to this well-appointed three-bedroom central-air home with a private library/office. A curated selection of artwork hangs on the walls. Wi-fi and hard-wired ethernet connections provide internet service to the library and desks throughout the home. A historic millstone is embedded in the entry steps. Live and work with central air comfort. The expansive living room has a desk and is connected to a three-season sunporch with daybed. All the Roku TVs are easy to use, bring your credentials to use streaming channels. The kitchen is stocked with a wide selection of cooking and baking supplies, with easy access to the gas BBQ grill on the deck. The large library office is private with French doors. The master Story Room has a king-size bed, a half bath, and a Roku TV. The Lincoln Room has a queen-size bed with large closet, and the Map Room has a full-size bed and desk. Play table tennis, use the treadmill and finish laundry in the basement gym area. The deck has a six-seat table and lounge chairs (cushions in the deck box). The view from the deck features scenic East Mountain and mature trees. Sightings of eagles, hawks, and pheasants are common. Guests use Millstone Manor house and yard at the end of a 300 ft. driveway. The Carriage House is not available to guests. The host maintains an art studio in the Carriage House at the driveway entrance and will be available to answer any questions via text or in person. The East Mountain area of Dover Plains is mainly populated with wildlife. You will see (or hear) red-tail hawks, pheasants, eagles, deer, owls, and occasionally people walking scenic Berkshire Road. Nearby nature areas include the Dover Stone Church Preserve, Nellie Hill Preserve, the Roger Perry Memorial Preserve, and the Appalachian Trail. Other attractions include nationally recognized Innisfree Gardens and Millbrook Vineyards, both 25 minutes away. The Harlem Valley Rail Trail (paved) starts 5 miles north in Wassaic, NY. Dutchess County, NY, and Litchfield County, CT, are popular travel destinations. The house driveway accommodates 3 cars max. The House is a short drive to Kent, CT (18 min.), New Milford, CT (29 min), Pawling (19 min.) or Millbrook, NY (15 min.), Great Barrington, Massachusetts (1 hr.), or Bennington, Vermont (2 hrs., 10 min). The Dover Plains Metro-North railway station is two miles away with service to Grand Central Station. Dover Plains Taxi service available. Millstone Manor has a new central air and heat system.
