Welcome to a cozy retreat for relaxation near Sibiu! Our guesthouse sits within our courtyard, crafted mostly by our own hands — from handmade pieces of oak furniture to the naturally painted walls. You’ll have a private patio and can enjoy the shared courtyard with a pond, alongside our ducks, chickens, cats, dogs and visiting wild birds. We can prepare breakfast with fresh ingredients from our garden or the village(additional cost). Tea and coffee are free and waiting for you. The space Welcome to Vurpar Hello! We’re Sorina and Iulian, and together with our two children and the whole household, we warmly welcome you. In 2015, after 12 years in Bucharest, we realized city life wasn’t what we wanted for our family. We moved to Vurpar and bought a house — though it was too deteriorated to save. Instead, we built a new home, inspired by the architecture of the Saxon villages, while keeping it as natural and healthy as possible. We chose an earth-building technique from Moldova, where Iulian is from, to bring this vision to life. We also tend to an 8-hectare apple orchard filled with old, traditional varieties, all ecologically certified. From these, we create fresh apple juice in different blends — a true family effort where everyone helps as they can. Our love for travel has taken us across four continents — volunteering, cycling, and camping. We cherish meeting new people and discovering new places, and Vurpar has become the home we always dreamed of. About the place that will became yours We designed this space the way we’d love it to be when we travel — welcoming, comfortable, and with the essentials of a true home. We used natural materials wherever possible: wood for the carpentry and self-made furniture, and lime with natural oxides for the walls. We hope you enjoy this place as much as we enjoyed creating it! Bedroom: Features a king-size bed, a beautiful oak desk, a wide TV, and spacious closets to fit all the clothes you’ll need. A large glass wall offers a stunning garden view and leads directly to your private patio. Living Room & Kitchen: Includes a comfy, extendable sofa, a custom oak dining table, and a fully equipped kitchen. Freshly picked tea herbs and coffee await you — free of charge. Bathroom: Equipped with essentials and a washing machine for your convenience. Private Patio: Accessible from both the bedroom and outside, with a cozy seating area perfect for relaxing. Shared Spaces: Enjoy the playground, the courtyard, and the peaceful pond shaded by willow trees — spaces shared with us and our friendly animals. Guest access You are welcome to enjoy the shared spaces with us, including the playground, the courtyard, and the pond surrounded by willow trees. We have two friendly dogs who are kept in an enclosed area, and rest assured, they are not dangerous. Other things to note 🛒 A supermarket is just across the street, making it easy to pick up everything you need during your stay. 🚌 The bus stop is right next to our house, with 4 daily rides connecting you directly to Sibiu — perfect for day trips without a car! 🌿There’s plenty to do during your stay with us: Explore trails and enjoy picnics on the hills surrounding the village, where you’ll often spot wildlife and birds in the Natura 2000 area. You can also forage for mushrooms and wild plants. Go biking — we have two mountain bikes for adults and two for kids available for rent. Take a leisurely stroll through our charming Saxon village and visit the fortified church. Hop on the Mocănița, a historic small train just 20 minutes away. Discover the fortified churches and villages in the area. Explore Sibiu (Muzeul Satului, cultural events) just 25 minutes away. Hike the Făgăraș mountain trails, only 50 minutes away.
