Description
Set in a forest in highland Perthshire the location enjoys a shop/pub/restaurant a short walk away. Mountain views, owls, deer, red squirrels and a spacious living/dining room provide a relaxing destination great for couples, families and friends. A spacious lodge with large bedrooms and renovated bathrooms ensure a comfortable stay. The kitchen is fully equipped and wifi is free. The location offers wonderful scenery and access to outdoor pursuits or and generous grounds in which to unwind. The combined open plan kitchen, dining and living room provides a terrific social space for cooking, eating and relaxing. Guests can curl up on a large sofa and enjoy the beautiful views of the mountains of highland Perthshire, whilst basking in the glow of a large wood-burning stove. The kitchen is equipped with a fridge, freezer, dishwasher, oven, granite worktops and an electric hob. A washing machine is housed in the sun room which also houses a small desk and chair and a table football. The dining table can accommodate 8 persons and is positioned to take advantage of views towards Glenshee. Entertainment is available through unlimited wi-fi, tv services and a large hd tv. The hallway from the living room connects the two large double bedrooms at the rear. Within the beautifully presented master bedroom there is a double bed. Large fitted wardrobes provide ample storage space and a dressing table with mirror is situated in the corner. The second attractive double bedroom houses a luxurious superking size bed or twin beds and also has fitted wardrobes. For convenience the family bath and shower rooms are positioned adjacent to both double bedrooms. The cosy single bedroom is situated off the living room and is also within easy reach of the bathrooms. Parking is on private driveway finishing right by the door and a utility room at the entrance contains a large sink and an area for coats and boots. Generous garden grounds follow a small meandering burn (very young children would need supervision) to a level section of lawn housing a fire-pit for evenings outdoors. A sunroom at the southern edge of the cabin is in a secluded corner with decking for barbecues and private relaxation. Being situated at the very edge of the forest a wide range of wildlife frequents the garden. Visitors include red squirrels, deer, rabbits and a large variety of birds, both large and small. The location has very little light pollution and when the cloud cover recedes the evening stars are clearly visible by eye. Kirkmichael sits on the bank of the River Ardle and is less than 10 minutes on foot. It has an excellent community shop and two different restaurants/bars to choose from. A takeaway option for those wishing to return to the comfort of the lodge is normally available. There is a recharging point next to the recycling centre in the village. Many local trails exist in the proximity of the Kindrogan forest. Loch Curran promises a variety of wildlife and can be reached within an hour. The well-known Cateran Trail, a large circular fully waymarked walking route used since the middle ages, runs through Kirkmichael. Many other trails for walking and cycling are within easy reach by car across Strathardle. A route up to Ben Vrackie offers wonderful views and takes approximately 3-4hours to complete. Pitlochry (12 miles) is a famous town at the edge of the Cairngorms. Visitor attractions include a salmon fish ladder, tartan and souvenir shops as well as a good selection of cafes, bars and restaurants. Bikes, ebikes kayaks, paddleboards, pedaloes and boats are all available for hire in the town. Golfers are spoilt for choice with 7 different courses within a short drive, including the excellent courses of Rosemount and Lansdowne at Blairgowrie (13.5 miles). A huge range of outdoor activities are on offer within the Cairngorms National Park (8 miles) just a short drive away. The well-known Glenshee Ski Resort has multiple runs to suit all ages and abilities as well as an impressive system of ski lifts and tows. The historic city of Perth is 30 miles away and offers shopping and sightseeing. The impressive, 12th century Scone Palace is on the edge of the city. The ancient crowning place for the King of Scots is a delight to tour. Braemar and Dunkeld are also within easy reach. Guest access Parking is free within the property’s driveway, quiet road.
