The Cabin is an ideal escape to experience the best of Edinburgh, whether exploring the city or hiking or cycling in the nearby Pentland Hills.Only a 5 minute walk from amenities and regular, quick bus links to the city centre,The Cabin has an open outlook in the historic mill village of Juniper Green.Your hosts, Colin, Gill and family, live in the main house by The Cabin.You’ll relax in your own private space, however if you need anything we’ll be happy to help. Free parking onsite. The space The Cabin is a peaceful space which looks out onto an open field and is adjacent to the local park. It is perfect for a couple or friends who seek a wonderful short break escape. The Cabin is only a 15 minute drive away from Edinburgh city centre, and regular buses take only 25 minutes to get from The Cabin into the west end of Edinburgh (around Haymarket station), leaving from bus stops very nearby. Head into Edinburgh city to enjoy the world famous Edinburgh festival, Edinburgh castle, or the many other sights, attractions and restaurants Edinburgh has to offer. At the end of a busy day, you can simply sit back on your patio by The Cabin and watch the sunsets over the field or taken a 2-minute stroll to admire views over the distant Firth of Forth spanned by the iconic Forth Rail Bridge and Queensferry Crossing. In chillier months, the well insulated Cabin has powerful heaters which transform the space quickly into a cosy retreat. The Cabin is also on the doorstep of the historic Water of Leith and the picturesque Pentland Hills. Rich in history and wildlife, the serene riverside and rolling hills offer you miles of fantastic trails to explore by bike or on foot. If interested in cycling, see information about guided bike tours under Discovery biking Scotland in “Other details to note” below. The Cabin has one bedroom with a very comfortable double bed and fitted wardrobe with good storage space. Adjacent is a bathroom with shower. The main space is flooded with natural light and is comprised of a small well equipped kitchenette area and a spacious living room, including a fold down table / work station and a comfortable sofa that can quickly be transformed into a sofa bed (bedding is provided). The Cabin can accommodate one child in addition to 2 adults upon request. The kitchenette is equipped with a coffee machine, kettle, toaster, microwave / grill, fridge, sink and a full complement of crockery. Please note there is no hob. The Cabin has free Wi-Fi access. Beyond the external patio area adjacent to the main house is a separate locked store for two bikes and muddy boots / clothing. Guest vehicles can also be parked adjacent to The Cabin. Please note that all vehicles and possessions are left at your own risk. Throughout your stay, you’ll be left to relax in your own private space away from the main house. However, if there’s anything you need we will be happy to help to ensure you enjoy a memorable stay. Guest access You can park your car or a small campervan immediately adjacent to The Cabin that’s located within the gated perimeter of our family home. All vehicles and possessions are left at owners own risk. Please note that the lane used to access our property is narrow and unsuitable for a motorhome or long wheelbase vehicle. You can park (at your own risk) any large vehicle on Belmont Road or nearby streets. The Cabin and patio area is solely for your use during your stay and is completely separate to the garden area used by us. You will be provided with a key for the locked bike / luggage store and entrance to The Cabin. Other things to note The Cabin really is the perfect escape for couples or two friends visiting Scotland’s capital. You may plan to explore the City of Edinburgh or to use The Cabin as a convenient stopover point as part of a longer trip to drive, bike or hike in the Scottish highlands or Scottish Borders. If you wish to visit Edinburgh City Centre, there is a regular direct No.44 bus service throughout the day and including a night bus service. This takes less than 25 minutes to reach the city centre. Alternatively, incorporating sections of the national cycle network (NCN754 and NC75) you can bike (25-30 minutes) or walk (60 minutes+) into the city centre via the serene banks of the historic Water of Leith and the Union Canal. If you plan to explore the Scottish Borders, perhaps to explore the 7 Stanes Mountain-Bike network or hike, The Cabin is only a 22 mile (40 minute) scenic drive from Peebles. Discovery Biking Scotland Mountain biking is a fantastic way to keep fit, unwind and to be immersed in the fresh air and beautiful scenery of Scotland’s great outdoors. So why don’t we go for a ride. A friendly and qualified mountain bike leader and cycle coach, I’d love to help you explore the many fantastic trails and enjoy wonderful views in the Pentland Hills – all starting just two minutes ride from The Cabin! I regularly ride in the Pentland Hills and further afield.
