The space Lilah Blue is a stand alone house on our 6 acre property and completely private. The whole house is yours to enjoy. Please be aware as this property is on the edge of a vast rainforest eco system and sometimes forest creatures may find their way into the house and Lilah blue whilst beautiful is RUSTIC. Also be aware there is no air-conditioning and to keep cool in the summer months the house must be allowed to open up. Our gardens are host to many rainforest birds and is a must for birdwatchers. Keep a look out for wallabies and other wildlife from the verandah. Lilah Blue is close to many renowned hiking tracks including Glacier Rock and the Smiths and Douglas tracks. Great for lovers of hiking. Nestled between Kuranda and the Atherton tablelands 12 minute’s drive to the picturesque Kuranda village with all its wonderful attractions and only 40 minutes from the Cairns International Airport, you are secluded but close. The drive from Cairns take about 50 minutes there is a windy range in between that is about 12 km long and can be very windy, please drive safely. The Savannah Suite offers a king bed and a double bed with a private toilet. The Rainforest Retreat suite offers a queen bed. With large French doors and lots of windows relax and unwind the house is absolutely private and no-one can see in. Both rooms are very private with high spacious ceilings. The kitchen has a gas oven, large fridge and all kitchen equipment. The lounge and dining area open up to the front veranda where there is an outside dining space. An outside bath allows a unique experience of bathing under the stars which we hope you will enjoy. Please note this is an OFF GRID house with a small but very adequate stand alone solar system, this means there is no air conditioning or microwave and heating elements such as hair dryers which are unable or allowed to be used. Also please note neighbours have roosters these can be quite loud at times. Partial screening allows you to enjoy the uninterrupted views and proximity to nature. The rainwater is completely drinkable and is fresh and delicious. There is a laundry tub however, any clothes washing can be done in the laundry facilities, 7 minutes drive away next to the Speewah tavern in the shop. Guest access The whole house and verandahs are yours to use, there is one shower and two toilets, please feel free to leave a light on overnight to help get to the bathroom in the night. There is a railing next to the entrance stairs. Private Parking in the driveway/entry of the house. Other things to note This is a rural area there are several houses in the area with chickens and livestock. Likewise we are all off grid and so in times of lots of rain our neighbour sometimes will run his generator and this may be heard. Wildlife such as wallabies, goannas, birds and butterflies may enter your garden space. And once again- our cottage is a rustic off grid retreat, at times leaves may blow into the house and rarely spiders or other little creatures can find their way in. If this is not the experience you are looking for then Lilah Blue may not be the right accomodation for you.
