Evergreen Carriage House- Arboretum Suite

This beautiful upstairs suite, filled with antiques, has a king-size bed. The bathroom steps up to a romantic 2 person whirlpool spa tub. There are two separate sitting areas, which makes this suite a great gathering place for friends or family traveling together. Private accommodations surrounded by beautiful gardens. Guests are encouraged to enjoy the shared breakfast room (complete with microwave, coffee & coffee makers, refrigerator, and breakfast table), front porch and garden patio. The space Evergreen Carriage House is located on the grounds of "Evergreen", a late 19th Century Victorian Home on a quiet street in Jefferson's Historical District. The Carriage House is surrounded by giant oak and pecan trees, and features a tranquil Victorian garden, complete with antique brick walkways, patio and statuary. In the spring, the garden is ablaze with Azalea blooms, while annual flowers abound during the entire year. The main house "Evergreen" was built in 1892 by Margaret Godfrey, a school teacher. The home passed through a few families and in 1991, Doug and Phillis Eastham purchased the home. The Eastham's have attempted to restore the house to its original condition removing many of the additions and partitions constructed during the early part of this century. Doug and Phillis have been married for 59 years and live in the main Evergreen house. The Eastham's moved from Houston where they had a hardware and lumbar business for 30 years. After making the decision to retire, the Eastham's settled on Jefferson Texas wanting to restore an old home. They say their favorite thing about Jefferson is the people and unique community.
