Cosy, self-contained cottage tucked amidst the hub of the cattle station headquarters. Private yard & veranda to observe the comings and goings of station life. Cattle, horses & working dogs likely to be right on your doorstep. Local adventures: explore Bitter Springs & experience stockcamp cuisine at Little Roper River Stockcamp. Easy day trips to Katherine hot springs, Katherine Gorge and Edith Falls (top pools a must!) The space * The ‘cottage’ is the newest building on Mataranka Station and was used as the manager’s residence. * The station was originally established by the government in 1913 and called Mataranka Horse and Sheep Experimental Station. A sheep dip and yards are located on John Hauser Drive. These are now part of Elsey National Park. * Mataranka Station is currently 79 000 hectares or 195 000 acres and runs approximately 5000 head of cattle. Cattle are primarily mustered off waters using horses, dogs, motorbikes and occasionally helicopters. Other things to note * Mataranka Station is on a strict bio-security plan to ensure our animals stay safe. * The Cottage has its own private yard which is for guests’ private use. Please refrain from exploring elsewhere on the station in order to comply with safety measures. * House is on bore water. Please bring drinking water with you. * Feedback is always welcome.
