Description
In the heart of the peaceful village of Appleby Magna is our converted loft apartment. It has its own small, fenced garden and patio with off-street parking. Well-equipped with Wifi, smart TV, gas hob, electric oven and fridge. There is one bedroom with king-sized bed and an additional sofa bed in the living area. Ground floor lobby and shower room. Quiet village location in the National Forest within a mile of the M42 junction providing easy access to Birmingham and the East Midlands. The space The small, light apartment was built above our garage in 2019/20 when we had it renovated as it was in a state of disrepair. Dating back over 250 years, it was added to, in stages, and has been a workshop for a butcher, a coffin-maker and wheelwright. Now a modern building, it retains its old-charm character. Entering the front door, the downstairs entrance lobby leads to the shower room with toilet and wash basin. Hot water is provided on demand from a gas boiler in the garage. The open oak staircase leads to the oak-floored living and kitchen area. The kitchen is well-equipped with gas hob, electric oven, fridge, sink and drainer. The lounge has a comfortable sofa and easy chair, wall-mounted smart tv and coffee table. A storage unit contains books and board games. (Children’s books and toys can be provided on request.) There is an additional sofa at the opposite end of the room which can be made up as a double bed. This can sleep up to 2 guests but is only suitable for short stays. The separate bedroom has a king-sized bed. Blackout blinds on the rooflight windows aid a good nights sleep. The small, fenced garden can be accessed from our driveway and also from an adjacent public footpath. This garden with patio is for guests’ sole use, however we do access twice a day to attend to our hens. A fire pit with fuel is provided for guest use on the patio and additional patio furniture is also available. Guest access Guests have sole use of apartment and fenced garden (we will access garden to feed the hens). Garden can be accessed through a gate onto the public footpath if guests wish to park on the road or through a gate from our driveway where there is an allocated space for one guest car. Other things to note For longer stays the flat is only suitable for up to two adults. For short stays, we can also accommodate up to 2 others and/or one well-behaved dog, however, the flat is small so please bear this in mind when requesting to stay. Please note that any dog must be checked in when making the booking request (there is an extra charge to cover extra cleaning and insurance). We have hens accessed through a gate in the flat's garden - we go in twice daily to attend to them. If you have a dog, they may show interest in the hens!
