A Country Escape with Character – Just Minutes from Town You will fall in love with the Old Dairy Cottage, a cosy countryside retreat perfectly positioned near town, along the beautiful Mary River. Nestled on a picturesque cattle property, this charming hideaway features a queen-size bedroom that blends contemporary comfort with rustic character, offering a warm and spacious atmosphere. To preserve the peaceful and relaxed vibe of the property, we kindly ask that pets not be brought along. The space The Old Dairy Cottage – Where Rustic Meets Relaxed The Old Dairy has been lovingly renovated to blend contemporary comfort with the timeless charm of country life. Inside, you'll find a stylish queen-size bedroom, complete with reverse cycle air-conditioning to keep you comfortable in any season. While children and babies are welcome, please note that we don’t provide additional bedding or equipment for little ones — feel free to bring along whatever you may need. From the bedroom, an internal door leads into what was once the old milking stalls — now transformed into a unique and welcoming living space that holds onto its rustic roots. This open area features a cosy lounge, occasional chair, coffee table, TV, mini fridge/freezer, and light cooking amenities. It’s all the comforts of home, with a nod to the past: the original concrete floors remain, and one authentic milking stall has been preserved as a nostalgic touch from yesteryear. While this space radiates warmth and character, it also carries the charm of a working farm — so expect a little dust here and there as part of the experience. And now for one of the real highlights… If you’ve ever dreamed of a loo with a view, or a bath under the open sky, you’re in for a treat. Our outdoor bathroom area is a guest favourite — complete with a clawfoot tub, outdoor shower, pavers and pebbles, and greenery, all set to the peaceful backdrop of grazing cattle and open skies. There’s hot and cold running water, excellent shower pressure, a charming pedestal sink, and a mirror, with the original outhouse now home to a fully functional flushing toilet (yes, it’s a bit of a star in its own right!). The cottage is set about 30 metres from the main house, giving you privacy while still being close enough should you need anything. You’ll likely spot the owners now and then, going about their day tending to animals and working on the property — we’re always happy to say hello or help if needed. Guest access Your Stay at the Old Dairy Cottage You’ll be staying in your own private space on our picturesque 50-acre cattle property. While the main house shares the driveway, the Old Dairy Cottage is thoughtfully positioned to offer a peaceful sense of seclusion. Here, you can truly unwind and take in the rural charm at your own pace — whether that’s enjoying a quiet morning with a cup of tea or watching the sunset over the paddocks. Other things to note Welcome! To help you settle in, we’ve provided complimentary sachets of tea, coffee, milk, and sugar. Please note that we’re unable to cater to specific dietary needs or preferences, so feel free to bring along any special items you may require. As part of the property’s charm, you’ll likely meet some of our friendly farm animals during your stay.
