WE ARE MORE THAN HAPPY TO GO THE EXTRA MILE TO MAKE YOU FEEL AT-HOME AND SAFE.*** This listing is for a beautifully designed work-live studio located in Cornwall-on-Hudson, NY. Once the house's original kitchen, the newly renovated space is located in the back part of our historic Carpenter Gothic Victorian house at Sparrow House NY originally built in 1859 by Captain Leonard P. Clark. The studio has it's own private entrance with keyless lock and private exit into the yard. The studio comes with a custom-made Queen size Murphy bed, a kitchenette with induction cooking, griddle and dining area, a large bathroom with walk-in shower, and a mudroom with a separate exit to the enormous yard. The studio has another entrance separate from the main house with keyless keypad entry. Sparrow House was built by Captain L.P. Clark in the 1850s along with many of the surrounding cottages (and even a bowling alley!) along River Avenue. Captain Clark was a shipbuilder who built and rented schooners for guests summering in Cornwall-on-Hudson but he lived at Sparrow House with his wife and two daughters. Sparrow House now functions as a space for creative retreat, exploration and community. We host many writers, musicians, artists, filmmakers and nature-lovers; the serene landscape has been a repeated draw for many. The house and grounds is mysterious, romantic and full of character. The Nest was originally the home's main kitchen but was recently renovated in 2019 by custom builder/designer, Jon Beer, transforming it into the live-work space you see today. All the furniture in the space was specifically chosen to be moved around so each guest can create their own space suitable to their specific work and living needs. The space was designed as an artist's retreat for 1-2 guests; a quiet place to imagine and create. Original Victorian design meets all the modern amenities you could ask for. Please be respectful of our home and our belongings. A lot of time and effort has been made to restore this historic space and make it a comfortable. We hope to be able to share it for a long time! The Studio includes: - Modern, kitchenette with a deep, double sink ideal for washing paint brushes, induction cook plate, coffeemaker and mini-fridge. - Convertible table that can be adapted for 3 different sizes that can be moved anywhere in the space. Perfect for writing, painting or enjoying a meal. - Custom-made, Queen-sized Murphy bed that can stay up or down depending on preference. - Comfy seating area with shelf for storage. - Closet for hanging clothing/storing a suitcase. - Toiletries and fresh clean towels - Air conditioning in Spring, Summer and Fall. - Blazing-fast WIFI internet - Unbeatable river-front location, creating a nature-filled retreat, close to all the best spots in the area - Access to the enormous yard, gardens and fire pit - Farm-fresh eggs! - Touchpad smart lock for keyless entry and effortless check-in and coming-and-going If you need anything at all - help finding something, questions about appliances, or simply looking for a good place to eat - shoot me a text or give me a call! Note that, for your safety, security cameras monitor the exterior of all outside doors. And seriously, if you are planning a rager with people beyond the folks listed on this reservation, PLEASE DON'T BOOK. The Very Simple House Rules: •Thank you for taking off your shoes in The Nest! •Please no smoking (of any kind) indoors. Breaking this rule will result in an automatic additional cleaning fee of $250. •Please don’t leave the door open (especially at night), as bugs will fly in. •Please no unregistered guests/visitors (it’s an insurance issue). Please abide by this so as to avoid awkward interactions for both of us! •Please do not put anything except toilet paper in the toilet (no wet wipes, q-tips, tampons, napkins, paper towels, contacts etc...) The special pump system can only handle toilet paper and any clogs from other materials will be billed to the guest. •Please do not enter the enclosed vegetable garden or open the chicken coop. The Goldhen Girls are fast and difficult to catch if they escape! •Please put things back where they were: furniture, books, etc. as my housekeeper may not know where things should go. This includes items brought in the yard. Failure to do so may result in and additional cleaning fee of $30/hour. •Please close all windows when you leave the house and when you checkout. This is both for security and to keep bugs out. •Please remember to bring out trash and cans/bottles recycling outside the entrance. If you have any dirty diapers we appreciate if you could dispose of them in the trash cans outside, as well! •Note that a security camera monitors the exterior doorway. •Make sure the both doors are locked before your departure. Cornwall-on-Hudson is an historic, river-front village 50 miles north of NYC. Just an 8-minute drive from Storm King State Park and West Point, 19 minutes from Beacon and 12 minutes from the Salisbury Mills/Cornwall Train Station, there are a variety of activities nearby. Lyft and Uber have arrived in Orange County! Zipcar and Enterprise are also available if you are in need of short-term car rental. We do not make our other listing, Sparrow House, and the Nest Studio available to different guests on the same dates. So if the main house is booked, The Nest is not available and vice versa. The Nest Studio is available to book in additional to the main house for groups larger than 12. Feel free to reach out with any questions! We are happy to announce we now welcome pets (cats and dogs) during your stay! We so appreciate our guests ensuring The Nest is clean for future guests to enjoy. Please note excess hair, chewed items or soiling will incur additional cleaning fees as billed by the housekeeping team.
