Nestled in Hosta in the heart of the Basque Pyrenees, relax in this unique and quiet, bright and spacious cottage, ideal for stays with family or friends. Located at the foot of the Belchou peak and the Arbailles massif, this restored old sheepfold will welcome passing hikers and nature lovers who come to share moments of conviviality or a little rest in an idyllic and soothing setting. The space This old sheepfold has been completely renovated with the utmost respect for ancestral materials and techniques, with a contemporary touch, all comfort and functional. In addition, there is a very large covered terrace and a long balcony that will allow you to eat outside and enjoy the view of the surrounding mountains. A garden and fruit trees border the house, facing the surrounding fields. The entire house is entirely dedicated to you when renting. The interior is composed of a large "cathedral" living room (living room + open kitchen), 4 independent bedrooms (2 doubles; 1 with bunk beds including a double bed; 1 with a sofa bed and a "cabin" bed for children + a small baby bed is also available), a bathroom with bathtub and an independent toilet. The thickness of the stone walls ensures coolness in summer and the wood stove the warmth of the fire in winter. The kitchen is fully equipped: SMEG cooktop, fridge-freezer, microwave, dishes, coffee maker, toaster, juice extractor, etc. Outside: a laundry room with washing machine, dryer. The bread oven in the garden is available for your BBQ or pizza tastings! The garden and adjacent land will allow children to have a safe space of freedom from the house. Guest access Hosta is a beautiful pastoral village of about a hundred inhabitants, lulled by the bells of animals and the songs of birds. Located in Basse-Navarre along the Chemin de Compostelle, 1 hour from Bayonne and the Atlantic coast, and halfway between Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port (Garazi), Mauléon (Maule) St Palais (Donapaleu). Multiple parking under the terrace and in front of the house. First grocery store/bakery is 7 km away (Bunus) and various supermarkets are a 20-minute drive away (St-Jean-le-Vieux). Several very good restaurants also 20 minutes away (don't hesitate to ask for advice!). Activities: Walking, pelota, running, pelota, picnics, swimming in the river, hunting, fishing, picking mushrooms, chestnuts and berries, yoga, meditation, gastronomic stay or attentive admiration of the fauna and flora of the village and the Arbailles… come relax and recharge your batteries in Hosta! After a few days, you will have a hard time leaving... For hikers: possible departures directly from the house (Nété, Belchou, etc.) and/or in the surroundings (source of the Bidouze, fountain of Ahuzki, lake, etc.). In the surrounding area: - Iraty and its forest, one of the largest beech forests in Europe ideal for hiking; - Skiing, cross-country skiing and snowshoeing in winter / Whitewater sports and hiking in summer; - Visit Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port, Mauléon, historical and cultural sites of the region, which is in the heart of the Basque Country, between Labourd and Soule; - 20 km from Spain; - 60 km from the coast. Other things to note Please note, sheets and towels are not provided. Wi-Fi is available in all rooms. Firewood is provided. Electric heating may be extra in case of excessive overrun (meter reading on arrival and departure). Iron and ironing board, vacuum cleaner and cleaning equipment are available.
